Enamel wire (Apporox. 6.6 m) Cut out following wires. For power wire 20 cm For power wire 15 cm For armature 3 3 m For field G 3 m 2 1 1 1
a Remove enamel coating completely on both end portions of every wire with sand paper.
[Fig. 2]
Length center portion of the enamel wire (3 m) (Cross the wire obliquely.)
Place the length center portion of the enamel wire on the assembled armature as shown in the drawing, and then wind both left and right-sided wires about 50 turns in the same direction.
Check that poles of the armature become north and south poles of magnet respectively as shown in the drawing.
[Fig. 5] [Fig. 3]
After confirming that, wind each end portion of the enamel wire around commutator bar 4.
Remove enamel coating about 5 cm on both end portions of the wire with sandpaper.

Brush Commutator
a Oil the bearing and commutator a little to allow the motor to rotate smoothly.

Motor
a If the armature is at right angle or parallel to the field when the switch is turned on, rotate the shaft by hand slightly to start motor rotation. a Reversing the direction of the dry battery causes the motor to rotate in the counter direction.
Check that the shaft rotates smoothly by rotating it by hand. Check that enamel coating of wire connection is removed completely. How to use assemble motor using an electromagnet for field [Fig. 12] [Fig. 14]
Set part H in G.
[Fig. 15]
Wind enamel wires from the armature and electromagnet around battery tag E and switch 8 to complete the motor.

Carefully wind the enamel wire around part H with each end portion of about 10 cm being not wound.
[Fig. 19]
Remove each enamel wire that has been wound around part 4, and the wind it around part 4 and I respectively as shown in the drawing.

Install part : and interchange connections of and each time armature 3 makes a half-turn to allow it to continue rotation.
a Commutator serves to interchange connections of and automatically each time the armature makes a half-turn.
Connect power wires to part 4 and I respectively. Pass an electric current, interchange connections of and while rotating the armature by hand, and check the change in polarity of armature 3 from the indicator swinging of compass J.
Confirm that the direction of the flow of an electric current reverses each half-turn by referring to the drawings.
