Community INTERNs Logic Model Integrating New Technology Education into Rural Neighborhoods

GOAL: 1) To increase computer and health literacy of the low-income citizens of Bertie County. 2) To increase the number of citizens applying for and succeeding in college and the workforce in health professions.

1. Introductory computer skills classes for the community 2. Teach how to look and apply for health jobs online 3. Teach how to take online classes for health professions 4. Provide opportunities for Health Professionals to train low income residents, high school students and on-site facilitators 5. Teach how to research health related information online 6. Citizens and high school use skills gained from computer skills sessions to set-up an online website for Farmers Market to promote healthy eating 7. Build partnerships among community agencies and schools to enable student internships in health related fields 8. Advanced science courses information will be provided to high school students with interest in health related careers

80 Community members/parents (8 participants per class session x 10 sessions that provide introductory computer skills and research techniques to locate information, job opportunities and access to health related issues and fields.) 5 high school students to complete semester long internships in health related fields, computer sessions and create a website for the Farmers Market 2 on-site Facilitators to continue support of citizens accessing courses, job applications, training and research in health related fields available for 20 hours per week 5 high school students per semester will be provided information and encouraged to take advanced placement science courses
