^Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path,--Psalm 119:105
Dear friends,

As I work with the Zimbabwe Christian College, humorous things continue to happen with the students. I would like to tell you of one particular incident and how the Lord has continually used it to remind me of His Word.

One day during this past April school holidays, John Oker, one of our Kenyan
students, came through the hallway with Georgeour then six month old puppy.

The following conversation took place..."George, come! Come, George!" I heard John say with much authority and some excitement, as George decided to detour from the hallway through to the kitchen where ! was standing. "George, come!" again I heard him. "George, comecome get the gorilla in the garden.!" Well, this really got my attention. I said. "John, what's wrong?" "i want George to
come with me because there's a gorilla in the garden." Well I knew that

something was very wrong because we don't have gorilla in Zimbabwe but t figured that they did in some parts of Kenya. So I said. "John, there's no gorilla in the garden...you must be seeing things! We don't have gorillas in Zimbabwe.' "Well, Jayne, there is something in the garden and t want George to come chase it away!", John said with much belief. I thought this guy is just playing a joke
on me and so I will play along.

"John, you come show me the gorilla--but I'm telling you there are no gorillas in Zimbabwe." By this time I had the attention of the three other students who were staying at the college during the school holidays--so we all went out to
see John's gorilla!!

As we walked towards the garden, we stood about 50 yards away and John said,

"See. in the guava tree." Well for sure there was something there because the guava tree was shaking so hard. But, I still held to the fact that it could not be a gorilla, when a very big baboon jumped down out of the tree and took off over
the back fence of the garden and into the tall grass of the open field.

"Well," Isaid to John, "it wasn't a gorilla but a baboonand I'm sorry I thought
you ware just playing with me! But, John, George could have been torn apart by
that baboon (which seated was about 3 foot tallthat is a BIG baboon)." "It

may not have been a gorilla but 1 knew something was in the garden and t knew
it was dangerous!". John replied. We stood around amazed that we had seen a

baboon in the city and laughed about John's "gorilla" as we went back to work.

Several days later and many times since the Lord has brought that incident to my mind. We all have "gorillas" in our lives or things that seem like they are that BIG. Our problems seem so bigbigger than anything we can handle. But
the Lord says "walk by faith NOT by sight." Our problems when taken to the Lord and done in His way and in His time can turn into "baboons that run in the opposite direction". Being obedient to the Lord in all areas of our lives is so

importantnot that the "gorillas or baboons" won't comethey will! But as James I says to consider it joy when trials come...because through those trials

(gorillas) and temptations (baboons) we will grow if we but look to the Lord for
strength and guidance. HE WILL CARRY US THROUGH.

hay the Lord continue to help each of us- as we strive to walk by faith in
Himand lay aside the "sight" of how big our problems seem to be...for He is in control and loves us and desires only good for those who are obedient to Him. hay He continue to bless each one of you as you follow Him.
Love ya,

Greetings in the name of Jesus,

As we come to the end of another year, Nettie and I want to share the letter

from Jayne and also

thank you for being so faithful in your prayers and

financial support. This year has been a time of refection and it also has been a
year that we are glad to see come to an end.

Jayne has been in Zimbabwe since January 1986 and she has grown to love the people of Harare and the members of the Greencroft Christian Church. Being with the students at the Zimbabwe Christian College has been most rewarding to Jayne. This coming April, seven more men will graduate and return to their homes to spread the gosple in their country. We have enjoyed reading the student's letters telling about their work as they returned home after
completing college.

As the new year begins, and the trials of Jayne's car problems have been corrected she continues to need your support she needs your encouragement and above all else she needs your prayers. Won't you please take time during these next few weeks and write to Jayne it would mean so much. This is so easy to do go to the post office and purchase an aerogramme, it will only cost you 45 cents. As long as you don't include any papers inside this, you can write a note of encouragement to Jayne, fold the aerogramme, and drop it in the mail. If will take only a few days to arrive in Harare. Oh yes,
you need an address.
