News From Room 207

Week of 4/14/14
What incredible weather we had this weekend. Spring is finally here. Thank goodness. I hope you were able to get outside and enjoy the weather. We have a very busy week ahead of us as we head into our April break. Please remember that Tuesday is a half-day of school and on Wednesday we have our Mock Math MCAS. As usual, your children should be well-rested, have a healthy snack and a water bottle. Students are welcome to bring in sugar-free gum. To go along with Autism Awareness Month, your children will participate in Autism awareness activities on Thursday afternoon. We hope our buddy class will be joining us. Our Wacky Wednesday theme is Groovy Disco/80s day. Wax Museum information will be coming home soon! Children will read an appropriate biography of their choice and prepare to be that person in our grade 4 wax museum! Dates TBA. I can hardly believe that April vacation is almost here. I hope you have a relaxing and safe vacation week and I am looking forward to hearing about your adventures when we return to school. I am looking forward to a wonderful week! Warmly, Sandra Travers

Each day comes bringing gifts. Be sure to untie the ribbons.

ELA We have begun our final drafts of our narrative writing piece and after we are finished, we will begin opinion writing. Read Aloud We continue reading the first book in the Warriors series, Into the Wild. Rusty, a young "kittypet" (house cat), yearns for adventure. When he's offered the chance to join the ThunderClan, one of the gangs of feral cats in the area, he doesn't hesitate. Renamed Firepaw, he becomes an apprentice and begins to train as a warrior.

Math We will complete Unit 10 this week. Students need to practice math facts nightly. Please visit www.everydaymathonline.com as often as possible Social Studies Study guides for the Mid West States and Capitals quiz came home last week. Please help your children to study nightly. Science We will explore open and closed circuits, as well as, insulators and conductors over the next two weeks. Your child should explore the following sites when time allows. http://sqworl.com/efp17g
