UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND MINORITY ENROLLMENT INCREASES 8.7% COLLEGE PARK, Md., - University enrollment has increased by 8.7 percent this fall, according to self-reported student data. This university has taken a significant step forward, said Wallace Loh, University of Maryland President. Our many efforts of recent years are beginning to produce the required results. American Indian enrollment increased 22 percent this year, the largest increase for any group. Other minority groups increased as well:
Asian Hispanic Black 7 percent 6 percent 5 percent

The increase in minority students is a gratifying sight for the many students, faculty and administrators who have worked for it, said Loh. We still have more to do. This is only the beginning.
