UPCOMING EASTER ACTIVITIES: Mark your calendar for the following Easter activities at Vance: Jelly Bean Guess Contest, 1-18 April, Bowling Center. Guess the number of jelly beans in the jar, complete a short survey and you could win an Easter basket. One guess per person, per day. Sponsored in part by Tinker Federal Credit Union; no Federal endorsement of sponsor intended. Easter Coloring Contest, 1-16 April, Vance Exchange. Children ages 3-12 and adults are invited to participate in AAFES coloring contest. Gift cards will be awarded to the top 3 winners in each category. Judging for the adults coloring sheets will be during a wine tasting on 18 April from 1600-1800; kids coloring sheets will be judged prior to the annual egg hunt on 19 April. Egg Hunt, 19 April, 1000, Youth Center lawn. Annual egg hunt for children up through age 12; eggs will be filled with prizes and candy. OPERATION:MEGAPHONE: Vance AFB teens will join military teens across the globe to collaborate in Operation:Megaphone Worldwide Lock-In 25-26 April. As part of Month of the Military Child, Vances Teen Center will host an overnight lock-in designed to connect all military youth programs worldwide for one 24-hour period. Teens will compete in challenges on social media against other bases. AFSA 2nd Annual Run-A-Thon: **Part of the proceeds raised will be donated to AFSAs designated charity.** The Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) Chapter 990 is holding a Run-AThon Fundraising event on Friday, 2 May with a contingency date of Friday 9 May. For the event, there will be two - 2 hour time slots (0900-1100 & 14001600) and participants will only be allowed to run during one time slot. Prior to the event, participants can ask for donations for each lap and/or each mile completed in their 2 hours. You may partake as an individual or as a team with no more than 4 members. Active Duty, Spouses, DoD, GS and NAF civilian employees are welcome to participate. Those who choose to walk instead of run, come with jogging strollers or children are allowed but need to stay on the outside lane. The 2 hours allotted is so that everyone has the same amount of time to participate. It is up to you as the participant how long you would like to run/walk and are not obligated to do so for the full 2 hours if you do not wish to. A simple discipline technique for children ages 2 - 12 that will get children to stop doing what you don't want them to do while encouraging good behavior and strengthening your relationship. LOVE AND LOGIC: Come and learn the basic principles of the Love and Logic parenting strategy. Love and Logic parenting is focused on teaching children to be responsible through replacing anger, lectures, and threats with empathy and logical choices.
