Introduction
For two years Ive had the privilege of studying at the Thompsons Rivers University; Digital art and design diploma program. The process has been an incredibly inspiring and thought provoking experience; the most incredible learning process of my young career. For an artist there is a great pleasure in watching your skills and talents develop and grow over the years. But I was not alone in my development, every time I stepped into the lab I was surrounded by bright eyed, eager students, all talented with their own unique opinions and styles that showed in their inspiring work. I hope my own personal art collection, highlighting two short, yet life changing, years of my life will dazzle and inspire you also.
About
Im Carina Heine; an aspiring artist, designer and animator. My passions are on character designs, and concept art. I love animated films and when movies include interesting visuals, which has also heightened my interest in CGI and 3D models. I enjoy collecting inspiring artwork, including concept art books, cartoon illustrations, business cards and pretty much anything I find interesting, whether it be in the colour, form, placement, or style of a particular piece. I love to travel for many of the same reasons I listed above, different cultures exploring different and unique ways of expression fascinates me, I love learning about the way they express concepts and ideas in a completely different manner, I take it as an experience to learn and better my own art by learning from others.

This is my detailed illustration of the Gibson Firebird III, a guitar that was produced in the 1930s. The projects objective was to design a hyper detailed illustration of a complex object. Every detail of the guitar was drawn out and added to the final poster piece. The background is based off a guitar pick from the same time with the Gibson firebirds logo embedded onto it. The font I chose was also based off the time period, I liked this font due to its less bubbly nature when compared to the other fonts at my disposal.

Article 11. Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defence.

I did a series of posters based on the universal declaration of human rights, in this poster I focused on Article 11; innocent until proven guilty. I picked this right because I feel like society is failing to implement it, not only due to race but also unfair discrimination against genders, class, education levels. The poster displays the justice scales being weighed down by personal factors that could sway the judge and jurys opinion on a case.

Article 18. Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

My last poster is based on article 18; the right to freedom of thought. In the poster I illustrated a mind with a muzzle over it, silencing its thoughts. I think this is an important right due to societies recent hyper sensitivity, it seems even a thought is a suitable offense for arrest in some peoples opinions, I of course, disagree.

attacks.
Article 12. No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.
15
My second poster was inspired by article 12, the right to privacy. What I think is one of the least appreciated and upheld rights, with increased technology we are constantly under surveillance, Every word we speak and action we make is witnessed by someone.

Both of these posters were based on a research project for a period in time, and a font created in that time, my assignment was based upon the age of Art Deco, with the font Bifur. I used very bright colours to go with the times, the overly detailed, yet oddly simple design was also inspired by the Art Deco time period where shapes were highly exaggerated, then filled with small patterns such as spots and lines.

The following three posters were ment to inform the viewer of a social injustice witness in society.

The average amount of foreskin on an adult male makes up for 50% of the penis. If unfolded and spread flat the skin measures to be 60 to 70 square centimeters. The foreskin begins to grow eight weeks after fertilization, and by 16 weeks has completely covered the head of the penis.
At this stage they are fused together by epithelium, A mucous layer that attaches the foreskin and gland together, the same mucous that attaches a finger nail to the finger bed. At birth the foreskin is often still fused to the glands then separates gradually as the child develops. The foreskin should never be forcibly retract as this could be very damaging to the foreskin.

After further adjustments it was now time to focus on the colour scheme, it is important that colour is not over done, as it would increase printing prices which is an expense that comes out of the clients pocket. The ideally the print should not go over two colours, and also had Boutique Boutique to work in grey scale.

Expressions
Ceremonial and ritual masks of the world
Tribal
Three masks that figure prominently in the Nokuma annual yam harvest festival are the Mindja, Yina and Nogwi. They are involved in rituals conducted after the annual yam harvest. Each deity has its own set of complex rituals. The Mindja (bottom left) is a female deity and is always present in the Haus Tambaran. It also is important in healing. These masks are originally a Kwoma creation, but have been adopted by the neighboring Nokuma people.

The goal of this project was to find a texture of fabric that we had to replicate three times, once realistically, another with design elements and a third abstracted.
39
The above photo is a combination of images found in various magazines then drawn together. Pencil pressures and shades were used to give the illusion of depth.
The concept of the left image was to draw out an object or figure with different textures and features applied.
