Circular to Parents Dear Parent, Change is as inevitable as the turning of the seasons and the tides. To try to keep it out of our door is to try to shut out life itself for everything that is alive is in constant change. It is when we fail to change, that we fall behind in living and our spirits age Stya Paul. Our school, Our Own English High School, Sharjah , Girls Branch is a testimony of both change and evolution. At present as we make a head way to the new academic session, we are constantly evolving to better ourselves. The highlight of our school is our zeal and constant endeavor in sustaining the OOS tradition of excellence in academics. It is indeed a matter of pride that our girls have done exceedingly well in various examinations and competitions . Four of our students, Sreyoshi Guha, Abinaya Ravichandran, Mamta Rajesh Joshi & Navneet Kaur were given certificates by Kapil Dev, cricket legend and former captain of the Indian cricket team, and Hon. Minister for External Affairs, Mr. Salman Khurshid for outstanding performance in the region in the All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination held in March 2013. This year, eight girls, Shraddha Shetty, Pratishruti Das, Hana George, Kaneesha Gandhi, Avelyn Kishore, Jaya Mathangi, Nititsha Nantha Kumar & Diya Mazumdar have won the prestigious Shaikh Hamdaan Award for academic excellence. Our students, Damini Suresh Babu, Jevica Jana DSouza, Srinidhi Chandrasekar & Julie Philip participated in SCIENTIST FOR A DAY essay competition conducted by NASA. Out of 1000+ essays our students are placed fifth in the list. The competition was for schools in India as well as outside India. A team of girls from grade 10 F, Neha Roby, Aiswarya Sidharthan, Hana George, Anagha Susan John, Misfa Bathool, Mahima Lizabeth, Abirami Soonu & Elsa Liya Jos made a movie'The Lost Words' which is one of the top 30 movies shortlisted for screening .The movie portrays a desperate mother's journey to recapture the lost times with her daughter who is diagnosed with terminal illness. Saloni Sakhardande of 8F won the first place in the doubles, under 14 category in the Dubai Shuttle Badminton Tournament. Nithia Mary Aisac of grade 10-I is the proud winner of the Sastra Pratibha Title 2013 organized by Science India Forum UAE.

We are privileged to have Ms .Usha Balachandran as our Headmistress, Ms. Malita James as Supervisor Grades 5 and 6 and Ms. Ritu Arora who has joined as KG1 Supervisor. We are positive that their expertise will further enhance the schools prestige and achievements. Summer vacation As per MOE Sharjah , the school will close for summer vacation from 29th June 2014 and reopen on 31st August 2014. Success has been synonymous with Our Own English High School, Sharjah , Girls Branch. While we are justifiably proud of our progress, we fully appreciate the contribution of all the stake holders. I take this opportunity to thank the management of GEMS for their support and cooperation and compliment all my colleagues for their unremitting efforts in ensuring smooth functioning of the school.
