Routines are the backbone of daily classroom life as routines dont just make your life easier, they save valuable classroom time. Besides, whats most important is an efficient routine makes it easier for students to learn and achieve more. With a classroom as stated above which is obviously populated by different individuals the teacher has to introduce certain classroom routines to churn out an optimal learning. These classroom routines should not be implemented without proper introduction or explanation as it will fail the main purpose of its introduction itself. Thus, when routines and procedures are carefully taught, modeled, and established in the classroom, children know whats expected of them and how to do certain things on their own. Having these predictable patterns in place allows teachers to spend more time in meaningful instruction. Students generally are not very drawn to homework and the act of actually passing it up may be a hasty non-effort from their part and tedious from the teachers part. So, in order to have better response to passing up homework and repeated behavior which is one of the major proponents of classroom routine, the teacher has to introduce a regular classroom routine on that. For an example, the teacher may elect a representative for each subject and this rep has the responsibility to collect the homework of his classmates and send it up to the teacher by the end of the school. The teacher further tells that she strictly condones this routine and reminds them that they are to strictly adhere to it. Failure to do so, the reps are reminded to jot down their names and send it up to her. She does not leave it like that, but actually hand picks on her own, the reps and talks to them personally on their responsibilities. This way, the reps would know their importance and do their duty accordingly. When a teacher elaborates and emphasizes on classroom routine, students do not only come to understand the pattern of that particular classroom routine but also its importance. Next, this classroom is made up of students who are different in character and seem to posses mental abilities that are average in level. Thus, this kind of students may be more responsive to classroom routines that are more animated which involves the usage of sound and perhaps sight too. For an example, if the teacher wants to have a regular behavior displayed by her students towards her attention signal when she wants them to be quiet or speak up she can produce colored cardboards to indicate the action that they are supposed to carry out according to the color she is flashing out. Green may be to speak and red is to keep quiet. She must do this regularly and consistently so that students can ease themselves to this new pattern more effectively as just a good introduction to this method would not make it a lasting one but a good follow up after that is crucial to its success.

Finally, young students are highly impressionable, so teachers at all costs must make sure that students are not treated unfairly and she also must not show favoritism so that the students do not get the idea that they are any lower or second best as compared to their friend. Thus, when teacher introduces a classroom routine perhaps a routine which involves coming to the classroom late, the teacher may have set the routine that if anybody comes late to classroom, they are to answer 5 extra question compared to their friend when they are completing their homework. The teacher should not be biased but rather let this classroom routine to be manifested for all students as the effectiveness of this routine may be punctured as students may not cooperate because it comes to be unfair. In conclusion, these routines make the expectations of the class clear, so the students know what is expected of them and the teacher is not forced to remind the students repeatedly of those expectations. Clear expectations result in better classroom management smoother, transitions between activities and a more positive classroom environment.
