MISSION STATEMENT SAB shall provide social, multicultural, recreational, and educational activities which are sensitive to and serve the needs of the entire campus and surrounding community, with an emphasis on the student body. In the process of providing these activities, it shall be the goal of SAB to provide an opportunity for members to develop life skills through their involvement in SAB. ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE The Board is composed of 3 main entities: three (3) executives, seven (7) committee chairs, and seven (7) committee vice chairs. The executives include the Director of Programming, the Director of Marketing, and the Director of Finance; they are responsible for directing and overseeing the operations of the organization as a whole. The seven (7) committee chairs lead and coordinate the efforts of seven committees that program all of SABs events. The seven (7) committee vice chairs assist the chairs with their efforts in programming all of SABs events. The committees include Campus Life Concert Diversity Engaging Issues Film Outreach Spirit and Traditions

APPLICATION PROCESS Candidates should complete the attached application, initial all of the items on the attached Applicant Checklist, and include all requested application materials listed under Position Overview. All required application materials must be submitted to the front desk of the Student Involvement office in SAC W310 by Wednesday, April 16 at 5:00 pm. Late applications are not required to be reviewed or considered. The selections committee is not required to offer interviews to all applicants and retains autonomy in acting within SAB constitution to provide interviews to applicants who seem most ready for a position with SAB. Additionally, they are less likely to interview applicants who turn in incomplete applications. Interviews will be offered to specific candidates and held within one week of the application deadline. Further information, including the exact time and location, will be distributed to candidates who are invited to interview. It is the responsibility of those candidates to watch for this information and to sign up for and attend an interview time. The selections committee is not required to follow up with candidates to make sure they have signed up for an interview time or that they actually attend their designated interview. The selections committee will continue to move forward with the interview and hiring processes. Information about applicants, their applications, and their potential interviews is kept confidential. OFFICE VISITS All applicants are encouraged to visit the Office of Student Involvement to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the organizational environment prior to submitting an application. ELIGIBILITY Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and have student status that is at least part-time in taking (6) credit hours at the University of Louisville during the semesters of their potential involvement with SAB.

CONCERT POSITION OVERVIEW


The mission of the Student Activities Board Concert Committee is to provide musical entertainment for the entire student body on various scales. The concert committee may leverage relationships with local venues to provide exclusive ticket allotment opportunities to University of Louisville students; host small scale, oncampus shows; and work with promoters and outside facilities to bring major artists to perform for the student bodys enjoyment. NOTE: THE CONCERT VICE-CHAIR POSITION IS A TWO-YEAR COMMITMENT SUBJECT TO REVIEW. Office hours, event coverage, and meetings are absolutes when it comes to being involved in SAB. The prioritization of your commitment as an SAB member is as follows: School, Family, Faith, and SAB. As you can see, the SAB is a high priority and for good reason. First, it is a position of responsibility. You are working for more than 20,000 students who have a stake in the University of Louisvilles community, and they have, in turn, entrusted us to select students who will live up to their expectations. Second, the Student Activities Board has a large budget that has been collected from the student body that is to provide students and other members of the campus and local community with entertaining, educational and/or enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends.
