2 Sided: An Identity Project

Ms. Carroll Class B


Project Overview: This mini-project serves as an opportunity to introduce your individual identity and establish our collective identity. Through a creative outlet you will be asked to express who you are as a social individual and as an academic. Essential Questions: 1. What defines our identity? 2. How do I identify myself as a student? As a person? 3. In what ways can multiple identities coexist? In what ways can they conflict? HOHAM: Unlimited Potential-In what ways are you open to the possibilities life has to offer? Significance-What significant events/people/choices have defined your identity (identities)? Final Product Requirement Checklist: 1. Does my project address the project EQs? 2. Did I creatively display my 2 sides (academic, social) 3. Did I include an artist statement that explains the symbolism, inspiration and how I addressed the project EQs? Final Product options: a. Shadow art- utilize the style of kara walker to depict your two sides. b. Spoken word- verbally express your two sides following the steps and examples. c. Graffiti art-decide on selective words (that symbolically represent your two sides) to display using graffiti techniques. d. Mask-design/create/decorate a mask(s) to show your two sides. e. mosaic-Use your choice of an assemblage of small pieces to show your two sides.

Grading Scale Project EQs- final product and artist statement directly addresses 3 project EQs. 20 points Creative Expression-showmanship and creative effort displayed in final product. 20 points Reflection and Revision- Honest reflection was present throughout the process of the project and revisions were evident in final product. 10 points B Project Calendar monday 29 Welcome!
