2D Foundations Professor: Garrick Imatani Final Exam: Portfolio & Sketchbook 5% of course grade Digital Portfolio Requirements Below

w is a list of the assignments and projects for the semester. Your final digital portfolio should show documentation of each item on the list. These are the minimum requirements, however, you are welcome to document additional processoriented work such as extra tests, prints, etc. that demonstrates effort beyond these expectations, especially if they are not visible in your sketchbook. For your final exam, you will be turning in your sketchbook with your portfolio, but it will be returned to you. Assignment #1 Thumbnail Compositions + 10x10 B&W Paper Composition 5 thumbnail compositions applying one element (line or shape) with one principle of design 1 10x10 inch b&w cut paper composition of most successful thumbnail design Assignment #2 Abstract Composition 1 abstract composition w/ b&w paper using shapes generated from partners body and objects in room Assignment #3 Drawing as a Verb 1 experimental exercise of making a drawing in the broadest sense of the word Project #1: 21 Century Portrait 10 thumbnail sketches final portrait (at least 1 full view + 1 detail) Project #2: Value Painting charcoal studies: value scale and sphere 9-step value scale using white & black acrylic preliminary + final photo collage final painting (at least 1 full view + 1 detail) Project #3: Printmaking 1 example from each of the 6 methods demonstrated in studio or digital lab workshops: non-solvent transfers (packing tape, acrylic gel medium), solvent-based transfers (xylene blender pen, Citra-Solv), digital manipulation, silkscreen print. final mixed-media print project (at least 1 full view + 1 detail) Project #4: Transformation collaborative iMovie animation uploaded to Google drive 5 storyboard images 5-10 seconds of opening sequence uploaded to Google drive final animation uploaded to Google drive

Portfolio and sketchbook must be uploaded/dropped off by end of final exam time. Late submissions are not accepted! Studio, shelf, flat files, and lockers must be cleared of all work Sketchbook pickup available: Wed. May 7 after 5pm. *If you would like your sketchbook back before May 7th, you will need to submit it to me the last day of class.
