April 30, 2014 STUDENT LEADERS Student Organizations/Councils/Governments/Political Parties Higher Education Institutions Dear fellow student leaders,

In 2013, the Filipino people witnessed several events that heavily challenged our spirits. From the pork barrel scam to the devastation of Typhoon Yolanda in the Visayas, young peoples role in nation-building has become more relevant than ever. The call for solidarity among the different student and youth organizations all over the country is as strong as the burdens that our country faces in the present and in the uncertain future. With more than 6,000 human casualties, the super-typhoon has brought a plethora of emotions among us: from deep grief to anger, from distrust to cynicism. But throughout history, young peoples idealism has strengthened nations and movements to wade through turbulent times. It is in this light that the Student Council Alliance of the Philippines [The Alliance] holds on to one of its founding principles: the solidarity among our ranks in the student movement and the solidarity owed to the different sectors, especially those whose lives have been adversely affected by Typhoon Yolanda. The Alliance, the largest student council and student political party formation in the country, invites you to a gathering of all allied student political parties and student councils in the largest student solidarity network in rebuilding the lives of our fellow Filipinos: the 9th National Congress with the theme BUILD BETTER TOGETHER this June 19-22, 2014 will be held in Iloilo, one of the provinces struck by the super-typhoon. The Congress will also venture to welcome new members, to reaffirm the organizations guiding principles, to report the accomplishments of the previous leadership, and to elect the new leaders of the organization. For your perusal, please see attached program and confirmation form. Kindly contact our Deputy Secretary-General Ruevin Serrano at 0927-887-3010 or email us at scap.neb@gmail.com. Magbinuligay kita! For student empowerment,

MS. HEART DINO Chairperson Student Council Alliance of the Philippines

STUDENT COUNCIL ALLIANCE OF THE PHILIPPINES 9 NATIONAL CONGRESS: BUILD BETTER TOGETHER JUNE 19-22, 2014
TH

The Alliances National Congress takes place every two years to gather allied student political parties and student councils in a venture to welcome new members, to reaffirm the organizations guiding principles, to report the accomplishments of the previous leadership, a nd to elect the new leaders of the organization. Political fora also make up a big part of the Congress. The campaigns joined and spearheaded by SCAP, such as Youth Against Pork, Students Rights and Welfare Bill, and FOI Bill are highlighted in these events. However, the main focus of this years Congress is on the rehabilitation of our fellow students in Northern Iloilo, one of the areas severely affected by the typhoon. STUDENT COUNCIL ALLIANCE OF THE PHILIPPINES is one with these efforts. As first proof of SCAPs commitment to our student-brothers and sisters affected by the calamity, the organization will adopt several public schools in Estancia and Carles, Iloilo. The 9th Congress is more than just a leadership and capacity building event. It is also an avenue to help our youth leaders commit to a deeper sense of nation-building and to awaken the spirit of bayanihan and solidarity. How can I join the Cause? The registration fee will cover the accommodation and meals of the participants. The fee is PhP 2,800.00 per individual delegate who will register on or before May 16, 2014. Regular registration fee is at PhP 3,000.00 per individual delegate.
