The peak bit rate does not take into account the MAC layer
overhead (MAC PDU header and trailer) and PHY layer
overhead (contention slots and burst preamble in UL, DL PHY
PDU preamble and header in DL).
Consequently, the user data rate is substantially smaller
(even if the SS is the only user of the WMAN).
