Field Trips
Geography
For primary grades the Las Vegas Natural history museum offers an exciting learning safari. Students will be able to explore different habitats, even our own wild Nevada The museum provides a guide educator who will scaffold the students learning by guiding questioning. The museum gives a discount to all CCSD schools.
History
I will have an employee of the Clark County Heritage Museum come and share the history of our community. The students will view artifacts and have a hands on experience. Students will understand what Southern Nevada was like in the 30s and even earlier.

Google and he White House have teamed up to create a very accurate virtual tour. Google used their 360 Street View cameras to capture the rooms that are featured on the public tour. I feel that the students would really feel connected to our government by doing this tour. By doing this tour virtually we save thousands of dollars.
Economics

I think the links for A-Z job videos as well as the links describing money would be most useful for younger grades. Students can learn about the economy and careers of people in the community.

Field Trips
There are three exhibits that are directly correlated to social studies. This museum is very intoned with standards, expectations, and students having fun while learning. Solve It! is an exhibition about the art of investigation. Unique among the Museums exhibits, Solve It! Features changing scenarios over time. Eco City is an environmentally friendly, kid-sized city filled with familiar buildings and businesses. Laid out along a boulevard, Eco City is all about how people live and work together in their community. Imagination reigns in Fantasy Festival! This exhibition combines a ship, castle and stage to inspire new heights of creative play, dramatic exploration and collaboration.
Civics
Barbara Bovard is my grandmother. She will discuss and explain to the students what her responsibilities were as a legislator. What her roll was in the state government and how it impacted the national government.

This virtual field trip gives students the opportunity to walk the perimeter of the Sphinx, putts around inside the Great Pyramid of Giza and explore the tombs and temples of ancient Thebes. This Virtual tour provides information we could read as a class during our exploration of Ancient Egypt.

Take a virtual, self-guided, room-by-room walking tour of the entire Smithsonian museum. This site is extremely detailed and amazing. I can look at each exhibit and most of the plaque descriptions as well. They have animals and rock from different continents, ocean exhibits, human exhibits, and so much more. Even though the Smithsonian museum is free to the public it would be very costly to bring an entire class to Washington D.C.

Field Trips
1. Explain which field trip you are most excited about. I really am most excited for Lied Discovery Children's Museum as a traditional field trip. I know students will have a blast and learn a lot of content that is present in the Common Core. However, I had the most fun exploring the Smithsonian museum through a virtual tour. I really feel that the students and I could spend an entire afternoon viewing and discovering every nook and cranny of the Smithsonian museum.
