ABSTRACT
Management information Systems M!S"# sometimes referred to as !nformation Management and Systems# are t$e dis%i&line %o'ering t$e a&&li%ation of &eo&le# te%$nologies# and &ro%edures ( %olle%ti'ely %alled information systems ( to sol'ing business &roblems. Management !nformation Systems are distin%t from regular information systems in t$at t$ey are used to analy)e ot$er information systems a&&lied in o&erational a%ti'ities in t$e organi)ation. *%ademi%ally# t$e term is %ommonly used to refer to t$e grou& of information management met$ods tied to t$e automation or su&&ort of $uman de%ision ma+ing# e.g. ,e%ision Su&&ort Systems# -.&ert systems# and -.e%uti'e information systems. /$e terms M!S and information system are often %onfused. !nformation systems in%lude systems t$at are not intended for de%ision ma+ing. M!S is sometimes referred to# in a restri%ti'e sense# as information te%$nology management. /$at area of study s$ould not be %onfused 0it$ %om&uter s%ien%e. !/ ser'i%e management is a &ra%titioner-fo%used dis%i&line.
