Sunday Services

Bible School 8:45 a.m. Worship 10:00 a.m. Evening Worship 6:00 p.m.

On May 17th - 18th, we are privileged to host the Unleashed for the Unreached Prayer Wall at Fifth Avenue. On May 17th, you are invited to hear Ray Linn speak at our 8:45 prayer breakfast. After breakfast, we invite you to participate in a prayer walk through our building, where we are asking the congregation to pray about very specific needs. Then from 1-5 p.m. on May 17th, the community will be in the building to see the Wall. The entire weekend will be filled with activities for our members and the community. We need you to join us as we seek to reach a goal of 200 in our Sunday morning worship service. Who will you invite so that their eyes will be opened to the need of reaching the unreached people groups and tribes for Jesus? There are still some 7,000 tribes that need to hear the name Jesus for the first time. Keith Dimbath, from Lifeline Mission, will speak at our morning worship. Then before and after the service, you and your friend can experience the Prayer Wall together. Its going to be a great weekend. Please plan to join us! Have questions? Call Brad at 740.550.9882.

THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

On Wednesday, May 14th, at 6:15pm, I plan to begin a new adult Bible elective entitled, Acts of God. I look forward to this study because it will address the question that everyone needs answered at some point in their life. It is the question: If God is so good, why does He allow so much pain in the world? This group will meet for six weeks in the fellowship hall. The curriculum uses a well-produced, cinematic approach as it examines the Biblical account of Joseph. Im sure you will enjoy it! One thing is for certain! As we look at Josephs life, we will see that even in the face of personal pain, we can trust in the Lord at all times. On May 10th, we will have volunteers at a local race passing out water bottles with a church label on them. Please pray first, that all the participants running the race can finish without any injury. Secondly, pray for those volunteering, that God will give them opportunity to make connections with those who need a church home. This is just another example of how we are intentionally reaching out to our community for the sake of Christ. No matter what, may God be praised because of His people are being faithful. We desire to recognize our upcoming graduates at our June 1st worship service. It has been our practice to only recognize those who inform us that they will be here that day and who do not mind being recognized. So please inform our office no later than May 18th if you want to be recognized on June 1st. Please allow us to celebrate with you. Thank you! Final thought: The Gospel message of Jesus was not just an offer of forgiveness; it was His call to enlist (Richard Stearns). In His Service, Brad Seevers

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

TRIP TO ADENA MANSION: We still need several folk to sign on for this trip in order that we can qualify for the advertised group rate. The Adena Mansion and Gardens are located in Chillicothe. The date is Thursday, May 8. We will be visiting the restored home of Ohios sixth governor, Thomas Worthington. The house was originally built in 1806-1807 and now contains many of the original pieces of furniture. (I am told they will be having a sale on their heirloom plants.) The tour will be preceded by lunch at the Golden Corral (in Chillicothe). The cost for admission and transportation is just $9 per person. Our departure time will be 10:00 AM. A sign-up sheet is posted on our bulletin board. (I would appreciate receiving your payment when you sign up. If you are paying by check, make it payable to Fifth Avenue Church of Christ.) PERSONAL NOTE: I want to extend special thanks to those folk who were such valuable helpers, to me, during the months of my Sunday evening preaching. My sincere appreciation to Frances Trimmer, Lowell Trimmer, Denise Baird, John Baird, and Fred Griffith. MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDIES: Our two groups are continuing the study of I Timothy. This is a chapter-by-chapter and verse-by-verse adventure. I invite you to join either of our groups which meet at 10:00 AM and 6:30 PM. SENIOR SAINTS IN THE SMOKIES: As of this writing, we have a total of 9 registered to attend this grand event. There is still time to register! This will be the 30th anniversary for this senior event, held on the Johnson University (formerly Johnson Bible College) campus in Knoxville, Tennessee. The date is May 26-30. I would, certainly, encourage any of our folk to consider attending this great senior gathering (age 55 and up). One of our ladies still needs a roommate. See me for registration forms or for any questions. FINAL THOUGHT: To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.

Now she lives in a highsecurity world that keeps her safe, but leaves her lonely. She knows that falling in love with a famous man like Adam is a bad idea, but Adam wont give up and she doesnt really want him to. Over the years she has learned to find faith and security in God. Then Sara and Adam are caught in a chain of events that brings Sara face-to-face with her past. Will she be able to keep her faith in God as she seeks closure?

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are: Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through gracebased preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and SoonComing King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

Discipleship

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member. If you would like to take a Curious class, please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.

We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

OUR PURPOSE

WE EXIST TO
