Every weekend you ask your friends “What is there today?”. I know
that you are tired of playing Scrabble and your spelling skills as well
and your numb chuck stills are impeccable. So really, what is there to
do? Each issue you will be able to find what is going on not only here
on campus, but what all there is to do in Louisville.

What is there to do on a summers night here in Louis-
ville. One of my favorites is going down to Bardstown
Road. You will find several people just walking up and
down the street. There are several things to do on
Bardstown. One place I was recently introduced to is
Café 360. The atmosphere itself is amazing. There is
no one way to describe it except for Louisville. They do
have a bar for those of you that are of age and drink spe-
cials on a regular basis. 360 also has some amazing
food.
I was introduced to 360 for the hookah or a way to enjoy
enjoying the atmosphere, food and drinks.
If you plan on going on a Friday or Saturday night be
prepared to wait; but it is well worth it. Also if you
have the opportunity to ask for a server, ask for Debbie,
she is awesome.
While waiting you can visit the many shops. Yes I un-
derstand you are like me and are poor but window shop-
ping is always fun!
Café 360 does offer some amazing food but if you are
looking for somewhere where you can watch people
walk by, I would suggest Bernos. If you want to check
out the menu just try the one by campus. However this
Bernos has a front porch where you can watch people an
cars go by while enjoying their food.
These are just a couple of suggestions for a night on
Bardstown, I suggest you and a group of friends go
down and see it for yourself!

Pasta Salad
This recipe is one of my favorites. It is very custom-
izable and really easy to make. Just take
pasta( I suggest something tubular or thick)
add in Italian dressing,
chopped veggies (like cucumber or peppers)
chunks of meat (optional)
Mix it in a large bowl and there you go.
Stuffed Tomatoes
When I was younger I had this every summer when the
tomatoes in our garden came in. For this all you need
is:
A medium to large tomato, cut in to fourths and a filler.
This filler can be chicken salad, tuna salad, pimento
cheese spread. Simply put the filler in the tomato and
garnish with crackers.
Society Corner
This is for all of you societies.
For every event you chalk and post flyers everywhere.
Now you have a new place to advertise. Right here in
the Speed News!
Now societies have there very own corner in the Speed
News to tell us what they are doing.
To get something in the Speed News all you have to do
is send me an email at speednews@speedcouncil.org.
This semester the Speed News will be put out Tuesday
mornings so I will need all announcements by Monday
night.

Fruit Salad
For this you will need
Apples
Bananas
Oranges
Orange Juice
Sugar
Cut the fruit in to bite size pieces, put them in a con-
tainer and add enough orange juice to cover the fruit.
Add a teaspoon of sugar to keep it sweet and juicy.

Its that time of year again! Summer Sports! This year
Speed School Student Council will host a volleyball tourna-
ment. Sign up sheets are available in the council office
stating May 9. Start getting your teams together, teams
should be between 6 and 8 people.

Hi! Welcome to the first issue of the improved Speed
News! I hope that you all enjoy the new look. There are
lots of things to check out. Here are a few things you might neering graduate students or PhD candidates that
want to take note of.
Every issue will have different things to do around town
and around campus. If you are looking for what all is going
within council you can find it here too.
However I do need your help on something. There will
now be a space where societies can add stuff. This can be
anything from meeting dates to speakers and even outings
that you want to remind your members about.
I know that we all are nerds but we do love our sports, well
at least a few of us do. There will be an update on sports
not only going on within campus but also when Student
Council hosts its sports tournaments.
I hope that the new layout of Speed News will keep you
informed. As always if you would like something printed

FOOD PROCESSI*G PROGRAM
Part-time position (20 hours/week) will be avail-
able beginning April 2006 (starting date flexible).
Position involves learning and performing a wide
number of different quantitative and physical tests
on food products, soil erosion prevention products
and animal feed ingredients. Applied research is
also carried out in these same areas. Individuals
applying for this position should be beginning engi-

preference is for experience using analytical testing
equipment. Laboratory is located in Lutz Hall,
room 315. Salary will depend on previous applica-
