Complimentary Background Checks: What You Need to Know

The Need
• The presence of private staff in a residence can often reduce threats to families while
reducing the overall cost of risk. But if employees/vendors aren’t properly screened,
safety benefits can be compromised.
• Full-time occupancy of a residence can also help reduce the likelihood of a loss to
valuable collections, personal property, confidential information and the structure itself.
• Because of our belief in the importance of this safeguard, AIG Private Client Group is
offering access to complimentary background checks to help encourage clients to take
this extra precaution.
• The service is provided by Kroll Inc.’s Background Screening Group, a leading provider
of employee and vendor screening services.

Who Should Access Background Investigations

• All AIG Private Client Group policyholders who employ — or plan to hire — private
staff
• Examples of private/domestic staff: housekeeper, nanny, chef, driver, home health
care worker, gardener
• There’s currently no limit to the number of investigations per client; each candidate
may only be checked once, unless the results of a search are challenged.

What a Search Can Include

• Verification of social security and address history
• National law enforcement check for outstanding warrants
• Past criminal activity listed on county, state and federal records
• Confirmation of educational achievement
• Employment history
• Professional licensure status
• A sample report can be viewed on AccessAIG.

Results
• Each check should be completed and a report prepared within 5-7 business days.
• Kroll will confirm receipt of application paperwork via e-mail or phone.
• To track a report in progress, the designated contact person can call Kroll Customer
Service toll free: (866) 541-4024.
• A hard copy of the final report is sent to the client or the designated client
representative noted on the request form.
• For security purposes, completed reports are never sent electronically.
• AIG Private Client Group will never see the background request or the completed
report.
• If needed, the “Background Check Forms” PDF on AccessAIG includes instruction
on how to proceed if employment will be denied as a result of the investigation.

Please Note
Background checks are an effective way to verify the information provided by an
applicant during the hiring process. This offer is being extended to assist clients as they
make important hiring decisions regarding prospective employees. AIG Private Client
Group policyholders are also encouraged to periodically re-screen existing private staff.

We encourage clients to pursue more extensive searches as needed. For suggestions

on additional investigative resources, please contact Gary Raphael, Vice President and
Director of Risk Management Services, AIG Private Client Group: (202) 821-8662 or
