Field Day
It is hard to believe that our school year is
coming to an end. It is a tradition to cele-
brate field day at the end of each year.

Grades K-5 will participate in their field
day on Friday, May 16th from 8:30-
1:30.

There are some important things that you
can send with your child to ensure they
have a blast at Field Day.
I would like to ask you to send with your
child/children a water bottle and towel. It
is a good idea for the kids to have sun-
screen applied before coming to school
during our last weeks because we have
several outdoor activities planned. I
would also like to ask you to be sure that
your child/children are wearing comforta-
ble clothes and shoes.

Thank you and get ready to have some
fun!

Lanier Summer Learning Days

Throughout the summer, Lanier Elemen-
tary will be open for students on Tues-
days and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to
12:00 p.m. Some of Laniers awesome
teachers will be volunteering their time
to provide learning opportunities in or-
der to avoid the Summer Slump, which
refers to the academic regression that
students often experience over the sum-
mer. Students will be allowed to check
out books from our Media Center, as well
as the public library behind our school.
More details to
come!

Summer Reading
Summer shouldn't mean taking a break
from learning, especially reading. There
are several things that par-
ents can do to help their
children gain reading skills
and perform better when
school resumes in the fall.
One way is to join the sum-
mer reading program at the local library.
Hall County Public Library will have
their summer reading program begin-
ning in June. Other activities may in-
clude having your child keep a daily
journal, writing stories, or playing word
games with your child. Many childrens
authors have websites you can visit to
find activities that center around favor-
ite books. It only takes a few minutes a
day to help students maintain their read-
ing skills.

Have a great summer, and happy reading!

any other outstanding balances by May 23rd.

ances owed the school. See Ms. Carder or Ms.
Hedden, or your childs teacher for infor-
mation about money owed.

Principals Message:

As the school year comes to a close, I just wanted to let you know how much Ive enjoyed work-
ing with your children this year. I appreciate all the support from the Lanier parents. The Lanier
PTO has been outstanding.
Please help us by completing the Parents AdvancED survey: http://www.advanc-ed.org/
