Section B. BPA Conveying Systems

B-1. Overview
It is common sense of rotating machine, Do not run the machine in the dusty
condition, but ironically BPA handling system should be run In the dusty
condition.

Dusty condition, is quite differ from clean condition makes very hard to check
exact machine running condition and hard to maintain the machine. So, no
matters of take care in clean condition, happened very serious troubles in dusty
condition especially visual check maintenance.
The theme of conveying system is;
1) Less degradation
2) Rigid Load calculation in dusty condition
3) Conveying Feed Rate data considering
3-1) Flexibility of bulk density
3-2) Feed rate pulsation from the prill tower
4) Design considering maintenance job in dusty condition.

Types of BPA Solid Handling Conveyors in accordance with our experiences are;
1) Conventional Bucket Elevator & Screw Feeder
2) Continuous Bucket Elevator (Short Pitch Chain)
3) Continuous Bucket Elevator (Long Pitch Chain)

Section C. Dust Control in BPA Solid Handling System

Normal knowledge of dust control for solid handling system is pick up the
induced air in feed and discharge section but the difficulties of dust control for
BPA Solid Handling System are first, closed loop with nitrogen purge system and
the second, the pressure differential among each groups of equipment is making
dust and air stream from high pressure section to low pressure section and
turbulence in feeding and discharging section of closed loop system. These stream
and turbulence cause thick dust layer in low pressure section and takes a risk for

dust explosion.

So the focusing of technical matters for BPA Solid Handling System are;
1) To make separation and grouping the system with the low leakage rotary
valve to avoid dust stream flow
2) Easy to clean design of debris pocket and hopper to avoid dust layers in the
system.

But certain area in BPA Solid Handling System, the dust collector with pick up fan
should be prepared for such as bagging, truck loading and sea bulk area, also the
big dust collector should be prepared in prill tower but it will be flexible if it is
located in nitrogen area or open air area.
In this case of dust collector needs no dust accumulating dust line design and flow
aids for dust cleaning in the conical section of dust collector.
