Of all the teachers I have had throughout high school, Mr. Stevenson
is the one who made me most enthusiastic about learning and going to
class each day. His positive outlook, great sense of humor, patience, and
genuine love of chemistry rubs off on everyone who walks into his room.
He genuinely cares about each student and their success both inside and
outside of his classroom. His class motivated me to continue with chemistry
in my future, showing the infuence of his teaching. I am grateful to have
been taught by a teacher as encouraging and inspiring as he is.

If you asked me to choose just one teacher that had the biggest impact

Tristin Roefs is exemplary. He is an excellent student, but that does not
begin to tell the story of Tristin as a person. As he progresses through the
phases of life, I believe Tristin will be defned by his work ethic, integrity,
compassion and leadership ability. I am continually impressed by the sense
of pride Tristin exhibits in everything he does. I have learned that Tristin
will infallibly stand steadfastly for truth and honesty whether it relates to
someone elses actions or his own. Tristin always exhibits a willingness to
listen and assist others whenever necessary.
While it is certainly possible to learn many leadership qualities, Tristin
has been blessed with the innate quality that gives him a distinct advantage.
His mere presence in a room draws attention, and others in his company are
naturally drawn to listen to whatever Tristin has to say. In combination with his irreproachable character,
this propensity truly provides Tristin with limitless potential.

Mrs. Brooks has been my math teacher for fve years. She is such an
encouragement to each of her students. Whether by asking how my day is
going or simply talking after class with me, Mrs. Brooks is like a second
mom. She has taught me how to think logically through math problems by
taking the principles that she has already taught and applying them to the
problem at hand. One of my favorite things about Mrs. Brooks is that her
classroom is fun. She teaches the material while keeping the atmosphere
light and winsome. She goes out of her way to get to know her students and
to invest in them personally. She is always putting others needs before her
own, and she inspires me to do the same.

was happy to supply me with a ninth grade algebra book and assignments

he did, and he still keeps up with what his students are up to after they move

Attending the New Visions Health Profession program my senior year
of high school has undoubtedly affected my life in a positive way, and no
one deserves credit for the success of New Visions at NCOC BOCES more
than my teacher, Mrs. Manee. Mrs. Manee works with both local schools
and Fox Hospital to make NewVisions a broadening, experiential program.
Each day her rigorous classes help to transition students into college level
academics. She also teaches her students to uphold professional conduct at
Fox Hospital. Mrs. Manees hard work and commitment to the success of
every student keeps the applications for New Visions numerous.
Thanks to Mrs. Manee, I continue to grow in my understanding of the
world, through both academics and experience, in a way far beyond the
capabilities of a typical high school classroom.

Mme Labroo is an engaging teacher who is always willing to try
new things. I studied French with her for three years of high school, and
I looked forward to every class. She has a knack for making everything
interesting, from learning vocabulary via skits and tic-tac-toe, to exploring
the geography of France on the surface of a cookie. Learning a second

I met Miss Waghorn when I was in sixth grade. I immediately connected
with her sense of humor and enthusiasm. School work never came easy for
me, but Miss Waghorn encouraged me to work hard, study and focus on my
academics. She has also helped me with things not related to my studies.
She took time out of her weekend to proctor a Life Guard exam for me.
She did this, because she knew how important it was. Miss Waghorn is the
defnition of a perfect mentor: caring, understanding and a good role model.
Throughout this year, Miss Waghorn has made it her mission to help me
with my pursuit to attend college. My high school experience has been great,
largely due to Miss Waghorns hard work, dedication and commitment.

Having been around her for the last four years, she has had a major impact

be the best student I could be and had high expectations. Because of those
high expectations I was constantly pushing myself. She is a role model and
someone I can talk to.

How can I possibly say how much Mrs. Phetteplace has meant to my
education in only 100 words? I had the pleasure of having her as a teacher
for my fourth and ffth grade years. We had a bit of a rough start but right
away, we just clicked. She made learning fun through projects like the
historical bottle fgures and the many fox stickers I received on papers.
The greatest lesson I learned from her was that true beauty lies not in what
is on the outside, but in having a beautiful mind as well.

Mr. Alex is the technology teacher and was one of my past class advisors.
Even though I have only taken two classes with him, he still managed to have
a signifcant impact on my education. He showed me that education was
not about earning the highest grade possible by whatever means necessary,
but instead he showed that education was about learning the material and
obtaining knowledge. My father had always said this, but through Mr. Alex,
I understood it. He infuences everyone in a positive way with his ability to
make you crack a smile. Thank you, Mr. Alex.

It started with a documentary on Industrialization, then a lecture after
school because I didnt understand Reconstruction, and then it spiraled
into the most wonderful educational experience I have had in high school.
Soon, lunch didnt mean social hour in the cafeteria, it meant listening
to Mr. Notos fascinating, impassioned, and absorbing lectures. Not only
did Mr. Noto bring me to love American history, he helped me realize the
complexity, depth, and drama of all history. He challenged my writing skills,
encouraged me to make connections I never imagined existed, and taught
me to appreciate the pervasive infuence of history.

Emily Greenberg was a pleasure to have in class and may be the best
student I have ever taught. She is motivated by a genuine intellectual curiosity
and a sincere thirst for knowledge. She assumes responsibility for her own
learning and takes advantage of every opportunity to do extra work
not as a chance for extra credit, but as another opportunity to learn. Emily
wants to learn for the sake of learning. Emily demonstrates the ability to deal
with complex historical questions and the ability to see connections across
historical time. She brings to her studies a humanities-like approach.
What she learns in one discipline, she applies in all. She is adept in
the use of both primary and secondary sources; and being a tremendous
writer, she presents interpretations in well-developed papers. Emily has the
intellectual ability, the discipline and determination to go along with the research, writing and speaking
skills to be a genuine scholar. She will someday write books and deliver lectures to both scholars and the
general public.

When this task was laid before me, I immediately thought of my former
Spanish teacher Mr. Rhone. Mr. Rhone is an extremely special sort of
person who is very dedicated to his career. I remember struggling through
Spanish class; however, Mr. Rhones assistance was a constant. Mr. Rhone
always found time to help me whether it meant time before or after school.
But what he really educated me on is much more important than school
curriculum. Through our many discussions Mr. Rhone has given me insight
into life, taught me how to be kind, wise, and happy; all characteristics that
he embodies. Mr. Rhone has surpassed being a mere teacher, I consider him
a personal mentor.
