(Pronounced Death Cubed)

EXT. ROCKY, DUSTY AND DESOLATE LANDSCAPE - DAYTIME
FADE IN:
MID-SHOT:

At first we see the characters’ feet walking up as the

camera pans upwards we see the backs of the characters. They
continue walking and SAM APPLEBY sits down on a rock. The
others look and sigh.

CLOSE-UP:
SAM APPLEBY
Why can’t we just take a rest for
five sodding minutes?

TERRY COLBY
No chance. We’ve got to try and
make it to the old refugee camp
before it gets dark. Otherwise,
we’ll all be buggered spending
another night out here.
LONG-SHOT:
Meanwhile, JACOB LEXIS begins to sit down next to SAM
APPLEBY and takes off his [JACOB’s] backpack.

MID-SHOT:
JACOB LEXIS
Yeah... well five minutes ain’t
gonna do much harm Terry.

TERRY COLBY
Oh shut it J. If we don’t get there
before dark tonight, then we won’t
see light again.

CLOSE UP:
SAM APPLEBY
Oh for fucks sake, don’t be so damn
dramatic.

TERRY COLBY
Sam. Just over a month ago I was
worrying about trying to get my
English A-Level essays in on time.
Now I’m trying to survive a nuclear
apocalypse - am I really being all
that dramatic?

(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 2.

SAM APPLEBY
Guess not. But five minutes still
aint gonna get us killed.
Sam starts to drink from a bottle of water, and we continue
to watch this as we hear JACOB LEXIS speak this next line of
dialogue.
JACOB LEXIS
Hey... have ya seen this over here?

MID-SHOT:
TERRY COLBY
What is it this time?
JACOB LEXIS
The skyscraper over there.
TERRY looks over towards the building above the tree line.
TERRY COLBY
Yeah its been destroyed like
everything else. What’s your point?
JACOB LEXIS
My dad used to work there.
Slight pause.

TERRY COLBY
Well he won’t be anymore.
The characters all look quite melancholy at this point, and
then they look down uncomfortably at the floor. After a
while SAM speaks.
SAM APPLEBY
No... but it does seem to be the
only building which hasn’t actually
collapsed.
MID-SHOT:
JACOB walks back across to the rocks where the other two
characters are sat, and joins them. He looks rather glum.

We then see a shot of the three of them, with their heads

turned towards the skyscraper in the distance, framing the
view.
FADE THROUGH WHITE:

(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 3.

As the camera zooms towards the building, the scene stays

the same but the time period has evidently changed. The
building has less greenery and there are flames pouring out.
In the background, sounds and screams can be heard along
with other sounds of the chaos that would probably take
place on the street.
FADE THROUGH WHITE:

The shot returns back to present day.

CLOSE UP:
JACOB looks away and then down at the floor - he clearly
feels quite uncomfortable and upset. He then looks beyond
the camera as if he is remembering something but it seems to
be appearing right before him. The camera blurs, mimicking
JACOB as if he were crying.
FADE THROUGH WHITE:

MONTAGE (OF FLASHBACKS):

NEWSREADER #1
Violence has escalated throughout
the United States as the President
raises the alert level to critical
amid fears of an imminent attack by
Middle Eastern perpetrators.
NEWSREADER #2
We are currently receiving
unconfirmed reports that a nuclear
device has been detonated in New
York City....
NEWSREADER #2 holds her hand up to her ear, and looks like
she is currently receiving information from the producers.

NEWSREADER #2 (CONT’D)
... and that is now confirmed. A
nuclear device has in fact been
detonated somewhere within New York
City.

NEWSREADER #1
The extent of the damage or any
other details regarding the bomb
are still unknown at this time.

We see a really shaken, hand held shot of feet running, they

are trampling over an American flag. This clip is
accompanied by the voice over of the following news report.

CONTINUED: 4.

NEWSREADER #3
Thousands are fleeing the area
surrounding NYC amid fears of
radiation and fallout from the
nuclear device.

We then see a man sat at a desk, with an American flag in

the background. This speech will be intersected with various
pictures of mushroom clouds over different landscapes.
PRESIDENT
My fellow Americans... our country
has been victim to unthinkable
crimes that have resulted in the
loss of thousands of innocent,
American lives. I ask that we take
a moment of silence to remember
this tragedy.
Slight pause, more pictures of devastation appear on screen.
I know that many of you will be
scared and I don’t blame you.
However I implore you to stay calm.
There is nothing to be gained by
leaving your homes and in doing so
will only leave you exposed to
further dangers.
Stay calm. Stay safe. And God
bless...
Where ’America’ would be expected, the sound cuts off and
the picture looks like the transmission is ’ending’. The
next picture displayed is an ’EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM’ logo.

FADE THROUGH WHITE:

CLOSE UP:
We hear a voice in the background, but it is slightly
muffled. Each time it is heard, it gets louder and slightly
clearer.
TERRY COLBY
J!

TERRY COLBY (cont’d)

Jacob!
TERRY COLBY (cont’d)
Jacob, get over here!

(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 5.

TERRY COLBY (cont’d)

JACOB!!!
At this point, JACOB notices him, and sharply twists his
head in TERRY’s direction.

MID-SHOT:
we now see TERRY kneeling over the limp body of SAM.
TERRY COLBY (cont’d)
It’s Sam - he’s collapsed.
LONG-SHOT
JACOB rushes over and kneels down opposite TERRY. He grabs
SAM’s wrist, looking for a pulse however notices something
on the palm of SAM’s hands. He looks shocked and very
concerned. TERRY notices this.
TERRY COLBY (cont’d)
What’s wrong?

JACOB puts SAM’s hand down so that TERRY can see SAM’s palm.
TERRY COLBY (cont’d)
Oh no... He’s... He’s infected?
JACOB closes his eyes, confirming what TERRY, deep
down, already knew.
JUMP CUT:
The Death3 logo appears although after about a second it
disappears and the screen turns to static.
