ENG 101.

013 & 14 Instructor: Sean Ferrier-Watson

Final Project: Writing Matters (30% of final course grade):

How can you score well on this important project? Choose carefully. You will need to select three of the writing
assignments you created this term, so choose the three that you think can yield the absolute strongest revisions.
Present these revised essays as chapters in a well-articulated publication about how writing matters in your life. See
below for additional details about this project, and follow those requirements carefully (also available on the class
website). Be sure to offer an effective, appropriate introduction for this project, and remember the audience will
extend far beyond the classroom. In fact, the potential audience for this project includes anyone interested in the
national conversation on writing (through the National Conversation on Writing). Select the most appropriate format
to display this publication, including images. If you wish, you may also include audio and/or video. Think about the
best way to present this. Be sure your instructor knows what you are doing and why. Get your project in on time and
in a format NCoW can use. Fill out the submission form at www.ncow.org/site and don’t forget to print out, sign,
and submit the “consent form” (located there as well).

Deadlines

• Individual conference and verbal proposal on Nov.17-19th ( will meet in my office, HL126, for 10-15mins)
• Extra Daily Grade Peer Review on Dec. 1st (discuss project and intro/conclusion with peer group)
• The project will be due on Dec. 3rd through the final exam date (reproduced on back with location)

• Write a two page introduction (500 words) of portfolio/project, explaining how your essays contributes to
the conversation on writing and/or how they have expanded your understanding of literacy

each essay)
• Write a Table of Contents, listing each section/chapter and page numbers they appear through

• Write a one page (250 words) conclusion or submit an audio or video project (3-5 minutes) to accompany
your portfolio
