During her time of struggle, Ishmaels mom always said, Never underestimate the healing power of music. Ishmael always comes back to this quote for inspiration. Both her mom and dad are musically inclined so she has been surrounded by music and instruments her entire life. She enjoys playing her guitar to acoustic songs and covering current pop music. Her favorite part about covering songs is making them into her own. Country is my favorite, it preaches God and the truth, Ishmael said. She always tries to have a positive outlook on life and that is easiest for her when she is involved in music. Not only has Ishmael found joy in music, but she has also found happiness through traveling with her family. Being an only child, she said she enjoys going on large family vacations with her cousins. Her cousins have always acted as siblings for her so she loves being able to spend time with them. She likes discovering new cultures and experiences through her travels. I would love to study abroad in Italy and take a food and culture course, Ishmael said. Ishmael would like to use her experiences with music and culture to one day work in the world of public relations. I would prefer to work in the music world, but as long as I get to be in a social environment I know I would enjoy my job, said Ishmael. She wants to apply her optimistic and hopeful attitude into all that she does and continue to fnd happiness through music and travel.
