Sid Miller The Right Choice for Agriculture Commissioner of Texas

When Sid Miller came in first place with 34.6% of the votes in the Republican Primary Election
on the 4
th
of March, this gave a clear message that the people of Texas are standing firm
behind this conservative Republican candidate. Miller will now face off with the liberal
Republican, Tommy Merritt, in the Republican runoff on the 27
th
of May.
Miller is no stranger to politics and he also has extensive experience and knowledge of the
agricultural industry in Texas. He is a former member of the Texas House of Representatives
where he held the District 59 seat in Central Texas from 2001 to 2013. He was eventually
unseated in the 2012 Republican runoff election by osteopathic physician Sheffield of
Gatesville in Coryell County.
This conservative leader is also a former vocational agriculture teacher and he also served as
the Chairman of the Texas House Agriculture and Livestock Committee. This committee is
responsible for overseeing the Texas Department of Agriculture. Miller was also selected to
work directly with the Texas Agriculture Commissioners as a member of the Agriculture
Policy Board. This makes it clear that this conservative leader has a passion for agriculture so
if elected as the new Agricultural Commissioner of Texas, Miller will not require any training
and will hit the ground running in order to make effective changes for the ranchers and
farmers of the state.
This Stephenville native was also endorsed by the Political Action Committee and he is well-
known for fighting for pro-life issues. In fact, it was Miller who led the fight in Texas to
require a sonogram before every abortion. As a result, the Texas Sonogram law was upheld
by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals as constitutional. To date, this new law has already
reduced the number of abortions in Texas and is recognized as being one of the strongest
laws in the nation. In her endorsement of Sid Miller as the next Agriculture Commissioner,
Elizabeth Graham, the Director of Texas Right to Life stated, Texas Right to Life has found
an unflinching and undaunted champion for Life at all stages in Representative Sid Miller.
His experience as a conservative, Pro-Life leader in the Texas House will prove him to be a
tremendous statesman and leader in any position. Miller was also named as the Pro-Life
Legislator of the Year by Texas Right to Life.
Throughout his six terms in the Texas House, Miller has consistently been ranked as one of
the most conservative Texan lawmakers. The fact is this is exactly the type of leader Texas
needs. This has also earned him an endorsement for Agriculture Commissioner by the Young
Conservatives of Texas (YCT) who in fact only gave Merritt a career score of 56% due to his
liberal ways.
The bottom line is, Sid Miller is dedicated and committed to maintaining the core values that
make Texas so great. So when it comes time to making your choice on the 27
th
of May, your
vote needs to go to a man who has the Texans interests at heart and who brings to the table
the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to run the position of Agriculture
Commissioner the right way Thats the Sid Miller way!
