Attention: Software Engineer Hiring Team

Dear the recruiting team,

As an expert in C/ C++ I have designed and implemented massively complex control system that has
generated millions annually, and possibly close to a billion dollars cumulatively during my 16 year stint at KLA-
Tencor.

My past managers/ teammates can confirm my talents & productivity:

Tom is one of the best software engineers I have encounter in my over 25 years working in
the computer industry, he is usually the first to make effective, economical, and appropriate
use of new technology. He generates pronounced results, often ahead of schedule, his
excellent code writing skill really drove many of the top company products while I was
working with him. by Paul Rockwell, past manager of Thomas Tong in KLA-Tencor

Recently, I helped created the world's first fully factory automated 300mm photomask inspection tool
machines for Global Foundaries and Samsung. Factory automation feature is one of the new mandatory
standard in the semi-conductor industry. I also extended longevity for an obsolete reticle inspection system for
an extra 3-4 years by modifying legacy code to allow this new factory automation to be incorporated. This
involved re-architecting decade old software without breaking existing features and allowing for a more modern
multi-threaded/multi-tasking platform. I was the sole engineer to implement both of these assignments.

Nothing gives me more satisfaction than working in an innovative, creative environment where my
talents and work ethics can find synergy to develop new, creative and exciting products. Positions which require
architectural design and implementation in a multi process environment are most appealing to me. Colleagues
describe me as a great team player, easy to collaborate, has a keen mind and is able to translate complex
product/technical requirements into viable and elegant technical solutions in timely manner.

I possess in-depth knowledge of C++ and C and proficiencies in several other programming languages.
For me, nothing is impossible. Challenges excite me, to become better and to improve my knowledge of the
world around me.

Together, I hope to work with you, creating great innovative, pronounced products/ services. I look
forward to meeting with you soon and to further discuss how I can be an asset to you.

With enthusiasm,

/s Thomas Tong

Employment:
2014 Feb Sr. Software Consultant, CMIT Solutions of Silicon Valley at San Jose

1998 - 2014 Sr. Software Engineer, KLA-Tencor at Milpitas
designed and implemented a new system architecture for the newest reticle inspection platform, to allow
multiple access to the hardware controller, while managing the job sequencing and job queues, a project
labeled as 'impossible' to accomplish within the timeframe required.
implemented the world's first 300mm Factory Automation protocols and functionality for existing reticle
inspection tools, used in Global Foundaries and Samsung.
upgraded the decade old reticle inspection system architecture to provide multiple access to the hardware
controller, thus allowing the Factory Automation feature to be added to the system, while maintaining

all existing functionalities.
streamline existing decade code base to make X/Motif UI more responsive, preventing obsolescence and
continued sales of older inspection tools.

1997 - 1998 Sr. Software Engineer, Lockheed Martin at San Jose
key engineer in upgrading the user interface for the National Missile Defenses Vehicle Checkout
System Software (VCSS) running on a SUN Solaris workstation.
designed and implemented the entire VCSS for the upgrading of NMD, under Solaris OS and using
Motif.
designed and implemented the socket protocols used by VCSS to establish communication with the MIU
(Missile Interface Unit) to issue commands and to receive data to be displayed on the UI
created a unique method of allowing the launch director to display multiple copies of his/her screen onto
designated remote stations to help coordinate with streamlined and efficient launch sequencing.
assisted in debugging and implementing parts of the 1553 communication protocols to their avionics unit
consistent adaptivity to ever increasing set of requirements that came during the development

1995 1996 Sr. Software Engineer, Kulicke and Soffa, Inc. at Willow Grove, PA
part of a team assigned to developing the user interface for their next generation wire bonders running
VxWorks.
designed and implemented their on-the-fly language context changing mechanism in a Motif application
developed guided-teach paradigm of controlling tool usage flow (main purpose, to streamline use and
avoid user confusion)
won SWAT award for being the top bug killer

1989 - 1995 Special Software Engineer, CAD Design Service, Inc. at Santa Clara
sole developer for CAD GerbArt product line, contributor to their EPD (Electronic Packaging Designer)
which ran in AutoCAD this converter was used by Sandia Nat. Lab, Lawrence Livermore Lab, IBM
lab in Fishkill, N.Y.
developed a converter that read in AutoCADs dwg files and outputted Gerber (CNC) files to used by a
photo plotter or a CNC machine, with perfectly duplicated company logos and scripts.
developed a reverse converter that read in Gerber or CNC files and recreate AutoCAD drawing files
reverse engineered AutoCADs proprietary font formats so that proper text in their correct font and size
could be recreated by the converter for customer logos.
separated the core engine of the converter from the UI portion so that it could run on multiple platforms
developed the user interfaces to run under 32-bit DOS and Sun Solaris using a single code base
