The Savior of the World

Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven. Mark 10:4
Sunday, May 18, 2014 Volume 2, Issue 20
God is on our side! God is on our side! God is on our side! God is on our side!
Have you ever been in trouble?
Sometimes when we have done something
wrong, we know were going to hear about
it from our teacher or our parents.
In todays Gospel reading, we hear about a
woman who did some bad things in her life.
When she talked with Jesus, she didnt tell
him she did something wrong. He just knew
it! He already knew all about her. Maybe she
thought, Im in trouble now!
But then, Jesus told this woman more about
God. He told her how she can worship Him.
Instead of telling her how wrong she was, Jesus showed her how He cared
about her. He wanted her to come closer to God! He wanted to save her!
In another part in the Bible are some great words. It says, God did not
send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world
through Him. That means that God didnt send Jesus here to tell us were
in trouble! God sent Him to save us. Just like for this woman in the story
today, God wants to bring us closer to Him!
Sometimes it might seem like were always doing something wrong, but our
Lord is on our side. He wants to save us!

EQUAL TO THE APOSTLES
SAINTS CONSTANTINE AND HELEN
You probably know the story about
how Saint Helen found the Cross of
Christ. But what do you know about her
son, the Emperor Constantine? These two
great saints did something that gave them the
name Equal to the Apostles. That means
they did something that brought a lot of peo-
ple to Christ and His Church. Because of
them, lots of people became Christian.
Before Emperor Constantine came along, lots
and lots of Christians were hurt and killed for
their faith. They were supposed to worship
whatever idols the emperor wanted them to worship. But in the year 313,
Emperor Constantine passed a great law called the
Edict of Milan. That law made it so being a Christian
was legal. Christians were allowed to worship our one
true God.
Always remember that the saints are people we can
pray to for help! Maybe you could ask Saints Constan-
tine and Helen to help all the Christians in the world
who arent allowed to be Christian. The ones who are
hurt or killed for their faith. Can you remember that?
We celebrate these two great saints on Wednesday, May 21st.
