shankara replies to these questions in the five verses.

the five verses have been collectivelly

given the name "manisha panchakam".

manisha panchakam - shri shankara replay to lord shiva (who is in the form of sweeper)
the word "manisha" meaning "conviction", appears in the last lline in all the five verses of
replay.

shri shankara himself is considered to be an incarnation of lord shiva. this work is in
essence a dialogue between two forms of lord shiva, intended to convey to the world the
the essential theaching of vedanta.

if a person has attained the firm knowledge that he is not an object of perception, but is
that pure consciousness which shines clearly in the states of waking, dream and deep sleep
and which,, as the witness of the whole universe, dwells in all bodies from that of the
creator brahma to that of the ant, the he is my guru, irrespective of whether he is an
outcaste or a brahmana. this is my conviction.

"I am brahman (pure consciousness). It is pure consciousness that appears as the universe.
all this is only something conjured up by me because of avidya (nescience) which is
composed of the three gunas (sattva, rajas e tamas)". One who has attained this definite
realization about brahman which is bliss itself, eternal, supreme and pure, is my guru,
whether he is an outcaste or a brahmana. this is my conviction.

having come to the definite conclusion, under the instruction of his guru, that the entire
universe is always perishable, he who, whit a calm and pure mind constantly meditates on
brahman and who has burnt his past and future sins in the fire of knowledge, submits his
present body to the operation of his parabdha karma. This is my conclusion

the self or pure consciousness is experienced clearly within by animals, men, and gods as
"I". It is by the reflection of this pure consciousness that the mind, senses and body, which
are all insentinent, appear to be sentinent. External objects are perceived only because of
this consciousness. This self is, however, concealed by the very mind, senses and body
which are illumined by it, just as the sun is concealed by clouds. The yogi who, which a calm
mind, always meditates in this self is my guru. This is my conviction.

the self, which is brahman, is the eternal ocean of supreme bliss. A minute fraction of that
bliss is enough to satisfy Indra and others gods. By meditating on the self with a perfectly
calm mind the sage experiences fulfillment.
... the person whose mind has become identified with this self is not a mere knower of
brahman, but brahman itself. such a person, whoever he may be, is one whose feet are fit
to be worshipped by Indra himself. This is my definite conviction.

Shankara responde a estas perguntas nos cinco versos. Os cinco versos foram
coletivamente dado o nome de " manisha panchakam " .

A palavra " manisha " significa " convico " , aparece na ltima linha em todos os cinco
versos de replay.

Shri shankara prprio considerado uma encarnao de Shiva. Deste trabalho , em
essncia, um dilogo entre duas formas de Lord Shiva , destinados a transmitir ao mundo o
o ensino fundamental de Vedanta.

Se uma pessoa tenha atingido o conhecimento firme de que ele no um objeto de
percepo, mas que a conscincia pura que brilha claramente nos estados de viglia,
sonho e sono profundo e que , como testemunha de todo o universo , habita em tudo
corpos do da brahma criador para que da formiga , o que o meu guru ,
independentemente de saber se ele um intocvel ou um brahmana . Esta a minha
convico.

" Eu sou Brahman (conscincia pura) . pura conscincia que aparece como o universo.
Tudo isso apenas algo conjurado por mim por causa de avidya ( ignorncia) que
composto dos trs gunas ( sattva , rajas e tamas ) " . Um que tenha atingido essa realizao
definitiva sobre brahman que a prpria felicidade , eterno, supremo e puro, o meu guru ,
se ele um intocvel ou um brahmana . esta a minha convico.

tendo chegado concluso definitiva , sob a instruo de seu guru, que todo o universo
sempre perecvel , aquele que , nadinha uma mente calma e pura constantemente medita
sobre Brahman e que tenha queimado o seu passado e pecados futuros no fogo do
conhecimento, submete seu corpo atual para a operao de seu karma parabdha . Esta a
minha concluso

o eu ou a conscincia pura experiente claramente dentro por animais , homens e deuses
como "I". pelo reflexo desta pura conscincia que a mente, sentidos e do corpo , que so
todos insentinent , parecem ser sentinent . Os objetos externos so percebidos apenas por
causa dessa conscincia. Este auto , no entanto, oculta pela prpria mente, sentidos e
corpo, que so iluminados por ela , assim como o sol est escondido pelas nuvens. O yogi
que , o que uma mente calma , sempre medita neste auto o meu guru. Esta a minha
convico.

o eu, que Brahman, o oceano eterno de felicidade suprema. Uma frao de minuto , que
a felicidade o suficiente para satisfazer Indra e outros deuses. Ao meditar sobre o mesmo,
com uma mente perfeitamente calma o sbio experimenta satisfao.
... A pessoa cuja mente tornou-se identificado com este eu no um mero conhecedor de
Brahman , mas o prprio Brahman . tal pessoa, seja ele quem for , aquele cujos ps esto
aptos a ser adorado pelo prprio Indra. Esta a minha convico definitiva.
