Matthew 7

Judging Others

Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
2
For in the same way you judge others,
you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye and pay no
attention to the plank in your own eye? 4ow can you say to your brother, !"et me
take the speck out of your eye, when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
5#ou hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly
to remo$e the speck from your brothers eye.
6Do not gi$e dogs what is sacred% do not throw your pearls to pigs. &f you do,
they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.
Ask, Seek, Knock
7'sk and it will be gi$en to you% seek and you will find% knock and the door will
be opened to you. 8For e$eryone who asks recei$es% he who seeks finds% and to him
who knocks, the door will be opened.
9Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will gi$e him a stone? 10(r if he asks for
a fish, will gi$e him a snake? 11&f you, then, though you are e$il, know how to gi$e
good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in hea$en gi$e good gifts
to those who ask him) 12*o in e$erything, do to others what you would ha$e them do
to you, for this sums up the "aw and the +rophets.

and with all your mind.

become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a har$est if we do
not gi$e up. 10/herefore, as we ha$e opportunity, let us do good to all people,
especially to those who belong to the family of belie$ers.

>ow when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. is
disciples came to him,

and he began to teach them, saying-

for theirs is the kingdom of hea$en.
4?lessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5?lessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6?lessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7?lessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8?lessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see .od.
9?lessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of .od.
10?lessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of hea$en.
11?lessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all
kinds of e$il against you because of me. 12<ejoice and be glad, because great is
your reward in hea$en, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were
before you.
Salt and Light
13#ou are the salt of the earth. ?ut if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be
made salty again? &t is no longer good for anything, e@cept to be thrown out and
trampled by men.
14#ou are the light of the world. ' city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15>either do
people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. &nstead they put it on its stand, and it
gi$es light to e$eryone in the house. 16&n the same way, let your light shine before
men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in hea$en.
