THE PROJECT BRIEF


The Managing Director of MASSIVE INTERACTIVE has asked me to
provide its design and animation staff with laptop computers to assist
their work. The budget for 10 laptop computers is $30000. The laptops
will be used to support design, animation and video projects and for
professional development activities and will require the Windows Vista
Ultimate operating system. The laptops will be made available to staff
for offsite client presentations and they also specialises in developing
and maintaining a range of media products and services.

1. WHY IS THE PROJECT BEING UNDERTAKEN?


The company needs to upgrade their laptops as the ones they have
now have become obsolete and I have been ask to research the best
laptops for their use as in mobility

 P.C laptops because the company wants Microsoft Vista installed


on it and Apple Mac’s don’t use Microsoft Vista

 Apple Mac’s because of their reputation for design and


animation

2. WHAT IS REQUIRED OF THE PROJECT?


The company wishes to provide its design and animation staff with
laptop computers to assist their work. The budget for 10 laptop
computers is $30000. The laptops will be used to support design,
animation and video projects and for professional development
activities and will require the Windows Vista Ultimate operating
system. The laptops will be made available to staff for offsite client
presentations.

3. WHO IS INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT?


Managing Director, staff and I, with whom the interviews will be
conducted for the specifications required for the laptops

4. WHEN IS THE PROJECT TO START AND FINISH?


The project will start on the 1st of March, 2008 to 31st of March, 2008
That will give me time to interview the staff regarding their
requirements for the laptops being purchased

5. WHERE IS THE PROJECT TO BE CARRIED OUT?


On the premises of MASSIVE INTERACTIVE where most of the research
will be carried out and at the vendors place of business

6. HOW WILL THE PROJECT BE CARRIED OUT?


Interviews with staff and vendors using a questionnaire regarding
features and requirements needed for the purchase of laptops

7. HOW WILL THE MOST SUITABLE PRODUCT BE IDENTIFIED?

By the results of the interviews carried out, the research will begin and
when satisfied with the answers to what product is best suited the I will
submit this to the managing director for approval before purchasing
incase the budget need to be altered .
