2 TREASURE HUNT APP INTRODUCTION The Treasure Hunt app is created out of a desire to not only help those in financial harship who are unable to afford basic quality househood goods, but also out of an eco friendly need to help reduce NZs 1.2million tons of commercial and and househood goods that annually go into the landfill. The App will help low income earning families and individuals who are caught in the poverty cycle, by providing an easy avenue via IT to find free furnishing for their homes. (Rubbish and Recycling, 2014)
3. BUSINESS SECTION 3.1 Vision Changing NZs poverty situation one free house-hold good at a time. 3.2 Industry Analysis: Poverty Assistance IT industry. Industry: Poverty assistance IT industry. Assisting those facing financial hardship, to meet their basic house hold needs. Force: High/Low: Justification: Buyer power: Low Other than the freecylce website, there is no other alternative technology to assist those in need of house-hold goods. Therefore buyer power is low. (Freecycle, 2010)
Supplier power: High People are always giving away house hold goods that they no longer require. This may be due to upgrading their househood goods, moving over
3
3 seas, or receiving unwanted gifts. Threat of new entrants: Low It is not hard to start up a company that gives away free quality house hood goods. Any one can create an APP or a website. (Lanyado, 2013) Threat of substitutes: High People may still be use to traditional ways of finding free quality house hold goods which include not using some sort of IT. These include Fairs, Galas, and garage sales which provide a threat of substitue for the Treasure Hunt App. Rivalry among existing competitor Low Within the IT field there are no other types of technology that is a vehicle, for assisting those in need of free house-hold goods. Overall attractiveness of the industry: Althgough the threat of substitute and supplier power is High, this works in favour of the Treasure Hunt App and its vision. Secondly, buyer power and rivalry among competitors are low making this industry an attractive one to enter. 3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs NZs facing financial hardship: These customers will need an easy interface that allows them at a touch of a button to see house hold goods nearst to their location, using the latest GPS techonology. These customers may not have access to the internet, and limited mega byte data on their phones, so will need an APP that is easy to use, and efficient with no delays.
NZs who no longer need their house hood goods: These customers like the previous will also be wanting an APP that has an easy interface, has minimum risks of crashing, has big simple language, and has how to use directions which are easy to follow. The APP will need
4
4 sound to notify these customers of when a person is interested in the house good they are wanting to give away. There will also be a love bank in the symbol of a heart, that fills up every time they give an item away. When the heart becomes full they get a status rating against their name, that shows up when they log into the APP and place an item up for grabs. When others see it, the status rating will symbolise their generosity and how much they have changed the world.
3.4 The Product and Service The Tresure Hunt App is created for those who are financially unable to buy necessary second hand house hold goods. At one point garage sales, School fairs, Galas, and second hand shops were the place to go to, to meet the needs of people in financial hardship. However, these places have now become a popular and almost trendy place to shop, which has seen the prices of second hand house goods on the rise. There is only one other avenue that provides free second hand goods using technology, and that is the online website Freecycle ( (Freecycle, 2010). However, the advantage my App will have over the Freecycle website is that it is a technology that is easily accessible , ready to be used on the go. It will have an easy interface, simple directions and contents designed to be used even by ten year olds, an option for different languages, status ratings that create community interaction and unity, and GPS technology. 3.5 Suppliers and Partners
Suppliers: Sourcebits App Developer: The Treasure Hunt App will need a Sourcebit developer to not only encode the Treasure Hunt App with its necessary functions, to integrate the GPS technolgy into the App, but also update the App when required. Sourcebit will supply me with an end App that has an easy to use interface, with language options, notification, status rating features, and a colourful and positive template all integrated.

3.6 Strategy: Cost Leadership Strategy The competitive scope of the Treasure Hunt App would be a broad market with low cost. The target market will include those who are new to the country, University students, famillies who are facing financial hardship, to those are wanting to get rid of quality house- hold goods. The App would be a low cost product contributing to the cost leadership strategy. The overall strategy is therefore cost leadership strategy. 3.7 Value Chain Activity: Market and Sell the Product and service.
