2 HEALTHWAIT APP INTRODUCTION People are struck down with illnesses and face long waiting times which results in some people not even getting their illness looked at as they dont have the motivation to wait that long. Our solution is to create an HealthWait App which allows our customers to book appointments through the app to any hospital. This will allow them to just turn up at the time of their booking, giving customers motivation to go to hospitals due to shorter waiting times. 3. BUSINESS SECTION 3.1 Vision Shorter waiting times equals a longer life as we provide motivation to people struck by illness to get looked at, get treated and live a healthier life 3.2 Industry Analysis: Healthcare industry (Consists of hospitals and doctors)
Force: High/Low: Justification: Buyer power: High People get struck by illness anytime and anywhere and if they want to seek treatment quick they can seek private care which increases cost significantly (HBR 2010) , however public care they have to wait ridicolous waiting times to get looked at in order to receive a diagnosis. Therefore buyer power is High when it comes to terms of receiving public or private health care. Supplier power: High Supplier power is high because there is not an excess amount of hospitals/doctors within every
3
3 city or local town. As according to ODT (2014), in Dunedin primary care doctors hours a reducing slightly. This will cause high demand for doctors services as they work less hours. Threat of new entrants: Low The costs of running up a hospital or a medical care facility is quite high as you need to pay for a number of qualified professional doctors which the world does not have excess stocks of them. Therefore it is very hard for new entrants to start up in this industry due to such high costs and maintenance. Threat of substitutes: High The threat of substitutes is high because people who are ill have a lack of motivation to go to the hospital due to low waiting times. The reason they do go is to be given medicine to recover quickly. Therefore, some people think they can recover on their own with family recipes or buying their own medicine from a pharmacy without the consultation of a professional doctor. Therefore the threat of substitues is high. Rivalry among existing competitors: High Rivarly among exisiting competitors is quite high due to the introduction of private health care. According to HBR (2010) in the US, health care is largely private and subject to more competition than virtually anyplace else in the world. This brings about rivalry amongst existing competitors in the industry due to the difference is cost and
4
4 quality of the services Overall attractiveness of the industry: The health care industry is not a very attractive industy for young entreprenuers to enter in as the rivarly is quite high, supplier power is high and the money that goes within the technology aspect of the industry is low as the end result/goal of all firms within a healthcare industy is patient welfare. 3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs The customers to the HealthWait Service App are people with health problems that need looking at by doctors in their local hospital. According to reports by Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (2012), the average waiting time is around 60minutes. This means people with minor illnesses dont have the motivation to go to the hospital to get treated because people dont have the time to give up 60+ minutes. However as according to Pa herald (2014) minor illnesses if left untreated can grow into major illnesses that require further attention and treatment due to longer wait times. Therefore the needs of our customers is to get there illness the treatment needed, so they face a fast and quick recovery to full health before it blows into a major illness.
3.4 The Product and Service With this app our customers can easily book an appointment which therefore means they dont have to wait at the hospital, they can just come in when there appointment time arrives. There is no other cheap alternative as accoridng to HHN Mag (2013) as all other alternatives will cost millions to reduce waiting times. The customers needs are satisfied because with the app, it reduces hospital waiting times which means as customers who are ill, it gives them the little bit of motivation they need to got to the hospital and be given a health diagnosis on their respective symptoms and are given treatmets for their illness which will allow them to be on track to recover and stop their illness from getting worse. 3.5 Suppliers and Partners
5
5 The suppliers for the HealthWait App are the App stores themselves because they supply our app worldwide by putting it on their stores, allowing people the opportunity to download the app on their smart devices. Another supplier for the HealthWait App is the supply of the code by expert coders which are needed for the App to work efficiently and run smoothly for our customers. The partners of the HealthWait App could be the hospitals themselves because it brings mutual benefit for both parties because with people buying the app, it brings money for us. Also, with people booking appointments reducing waiting times, it gives people motivation to go to the hospital as reduced waiting times, generating revenue for the hospital. 3.6 Strategy: Cost Leadership The strategy we have chosen is Focused Low cost because we with the HealthWait App, we focus on a very low cost as it only costs $2.00 to purchase from the respective App stores. The competitive scope that we have chosen is Focused Low cost because this app appeals to people in the population who have illness and require treatment. We are targetting these people and giving them a bit of motivation to go the hospital to get looked at as waiting times are reduced. This app is not for everyone, not everyone is going to download it. The overall strategy is therefore Focused Low Cost 3.7 Value Chain Activity: Market and Sell the product or Service The most important value chain activity for this business is Market and Sell the product or service This is because in order for the product to provide any benefit to us or the customers, we need to market our product to the variousApp stores available such as Apple and Google Play. If we successfully market our product to these App stores, they will buy our product and sell it on their respective App stores. Without this value chain activity of marketing and selling our product, we will make no money , thus denying the chance to give everybody (broad market) a bit more motivation they need (with low cost) to get their illnesses treated at a hospital as soon as possible. 3.8 Business Processes
6
6 3.8.1. APPLI CATI ON TESTI NG ANALYSIS PROCESS- This business process for the App, involves a test/trial stage for the application. This is done by bringing the project together to test for bugs or errors within the App. We need to make sure that our application is efficient and functions correctly before we can carry out with the Value chain activity of Marketing and selling our product.
3.8.2. APPLI CATI ON MARKETING MANAGEMENT PROCESS We need to manage the way that we want to market and sell our application to these app stores in order for them to buy our product. As we need to make the app stores understand that customers will be willing to purchase our app so we need to manage and develop a marketing plan.

10 CONCLUSION The HealthWait App reduces wait times giving our customers the push needed to get their illnesses diagnosed in order to be on the road to recovery faster. The value of IS/IT within our organization is huge. All these systems need to be in place in order for our product to be functioning for the use of our customers who need healthcare. Without them, our product will not function properly which flows on to the problem of long waiting lines to not be resolved and people will not have motivation to get their illness diagnoses which could lead to dire consequences.
