THE ELECTRIC SEATBELT
INTRODUCTION
Are you tired of wearing the same old seatbelt everyday while you travel? Does nothing
interest you to wear the seatbelt despite it being compulsory by law? In all honesty theres
nothing about seatbelts that motivates people especially kids to wear them. This is why we
have come up with the invention of the centurary that will really change the way people
perceive seatbelts and really encourage more people to wear them. This new design is
called the Electric Seatbelt. This is a new high tech system that has an internal electric
massaging system embedded in the padding of the seatbelt and the padding is supported by
a hot and cold ventilation system, and the functions can only be activated if the seat belt is
clicked in.
3. BUSINESS SECTION
3.1 Vision: : We keep you safe in the car by keeping you entertained in the car .
3.2 Industry Analysis: Automotive Seatbelt Industry
Industry: Automotvie Seatbelt Industry
Force: High/Low: Justification:
Buyer power: High Buyer power is high because there are large
varieties of seatbelt manufacturers to chose from
that make up the Automotive Seatbelt Industry
and supply seat belts. Seatbelt4U (Seatbelt4U,
2014) and Seatbelt Solutions (Seatbelt Solutions,
2014) are some of the bigger companies in this
industry that provide this the basic product.
Supplier power: High Supplier power is high as there are not many

suppliers avaiable in the market that make items
such as sepcific seat belt buckles and padding etc.
Han Lien International Corp (Han Lien, 2013)
provide buckles and padding for seatbelts.
buyers dont have many options therefore
supplier power is high.
Threat of new entrants: High Threat of new entrants is high because the
seatbelt manufcaturing industry is an easy
industry to enter as set up does not require much
effort and the barrier to entry is very low.
Threat of substitutes: Low Seatbelts are an essential part of cars and car
manufacturers are required by law to contain
seat belts in their vehicles and anyone seated in a
vehicle must wear a seatbelt as stated by law
(NZTA, 2013) therefore substitue for this product
is not likely.
Rivalry among existing
competitors:
High Rivalry among exsisting competitors is high
because there are a lot of seatbelt manufacturing
companies in the market that provide the basic
seat belt.
Overall attractiveness of the industry: The overall attractiveness of the industry is high
because car manufcaturers like Toyota, Nissan etc are compelled by law to provide seat
belts in their vehicles when they manufacture them (NTZA, 2013) . Despite rivalry between
competitors being high and buyer power being high due to many business being available,
this industry has a very low barrier to entry and does not cost a lot to set up as one of the
few suppliers Han Lien Internation Corp (Han Lien, 2013) has low prices. Its an attractive
industry to be in and has potential for a lot of innovation.

3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs
Our business focuses on over 4 million people that currently make up New Zealands
population and the car manufacturers such a Toyota, Nisan, Ford etc that manufacture cars
for these people. Seatbelts are an essential part of daily travel for almost everyone as
people are compelled by law to wear them. For car manufacturers seat belts would be the a
high priority. They would want the latest and most improved technological systems in place
to make their vehicles more improved. Customers that buy from them would want the best
value for their money keeping safety in mind. Big car manufactures like Toyota put safety as
an upmost priority as shown by their lastest development technologies such as Steer
Assisst to keep padestrians safe on the road. (Autoblog, 2013)

people to wear seat belts as its unique functions may only be activated if the seat belt in
clicked in. This will satisfy the needs of our customers because this latest piece of
technology not only has comfort in mind but safety also. It will be a delightful addition of a
brand new vehicles interior and would capture their customers attention as it is innovative

reduce impact of death and injury in car crashes.
3.5 Suppliers and Partners
One of the main suppliers for our products would be Global Sources. They are a
manufacturing company that manufacture parts such as buckles, padding and other
neccestities needed in the automotive parts sector. Another main supplier would be
Forcreate in China that produce internal electric massaging components that can be put in
paddings. Our main partners would be Road Safety NZ and New Zealand Transport Agency
who constantly encourage and promote road safety in New Zealand including wearing the
seatbelt. Teaming up with these partners would put our product in view of the people and

encourage car manufacturing companies to install our product in their vehicles if it has their
customers support.
3.6 Strategy: Differentiation
Our Porters Generic Startegy is Differentiation. This is because our product has many
components and would be of high quality so it will require high cost to produce therefore

because we target a broad market by targeting all types of car manufactures that make cars
for all types of people. Comeptitive advantage is provided because its a unique product that
satisfies the need of our customers and is hard to copy.
The overall strategy is therefore DIfferentiation.

The most important value chain activity for this business is market and sell the product or
service.
This is the most important activity because our product is very unique and seat belts are an
issue that most car manufacturers wont take lightly therefore we need to market and sell
our product to show these maufcaturers how beneficial our product will be for their
company and this huge change from the normal seat belt would be an aiding factor to
safety. This relates to our vision of we keep you safe in the car by keeping you entertained
in the car because we are showing companies safety and entertainement is a priority and it
is something we need to market and sell because the idea is very different.

activity because the order process is part of selling the product and in order for that to
happen the process of order confirmation and invoice being sent needs to occur so the sale
