bias
She targets politicians by using humor and appealing to the public through the use of sarcasm. Coulter
establishes this humor through making jokes within the article and leaving them for the reader to find out. This triggers
the readers emotion and persuades them about her stance. She bases her articles on facts, but much of it is mostly
biased. Her strategies include using dramatic quotes, hyperboles, and her special perspective that is shown in a
column. Many readers find her shrill, bombastic, and mean-spirited. And those are the words used by readers who
identified themselves as conservatives.

Article 1
Democrats to America: We Own the Government
Human Events: powerful conservative voices
By: Ann Coulter 10/9/2013 05:59 PM

This article talks about Ann Coulters perspective on the reason why there was a US shutdown. It mainly talks about
Obamacare and how sucky the Democrats policies are. She expresses her bias about how Republicans were just listening to the
public, while the Democrats didnt listen, especially Obama, and created this problem. She defends the Republicans from the public
view that they were rejected by the executive branch. Her childhood education on being pro-republican influences her still to this day.
The methods she used in this article include appealing to ones emotions by using humor and sarcasm. She has a certain
style in all her articles by criticizing the Democrats, their policies, their ideas, and pointing out their mistakes. She tends to use
sarcasm, for instance she writes, If you are in the minority of Americans not already unalterably opposed to Obamacare, keep
in mind that the only reason the government is shut down right now is that Democrats refuse to fund the government if
they are required to live under Obamacare. Thats how good it is! This shows her use of sarcasm to criticize Obama and
Obamacare. However, not only does she criticize, but she also uses factual statistics as well.

Community Organizer goes to War
Human Events: powerful conservative voices

This article talks about decisions that are being made in the status quo by America. She discusses the issue about the
governments dilemma about Syria and whether they should interfere with Asaad. While Obama agrees to do so, the rest of the
citizens, including Congress, dont think it is a good idea. At this point, Ann Coulter interferes by writing an article about how much
of an idiot Obama is being. She talks about how he is going for his own ideas and disregarding the majority. She thinks that that is a
major issue that is in the US government.
In this article, she uses various methods such as repetition, sarcasm, humor, and emphasis. In the middle of the article she
talks about how, It would be different if Assad were known to torture his own people, administer summary executions, rapes, burnings
and electric shocks, often in front of the victim's wife or children. She says these It would be different quotes in order to emphasize
how little we know about Syria and that we shouldnt be taking a step into destroying everybody. He stance is very clear, she does not
like Obama. She uses emphasis and humor in the last few paragraphs of the article where she talks about how Assad is at least
49,000 dead bodies short.
