totheconclusionthatitwascrackcocainewrappedincellophane.Hereachedintorespondents
jacketpocketandtookoutabagwithonefifthofagramofcocaine.Respondentwascharged

respondentspocket,slidingitbetweenhisfingers,hewasincompleteviolationofrespondents
fourthamendment.TheTerryv.Ohiorulingwasputinplacetoprotectofficersandcitizensfrom
peoplewhoarearmedanddangerous,nottoallowpoliceofficerstooversteppeoplesprivacy
withoutawarrant.
Inconclusion,policeofficersdonothavetherighttoseizenonthreateningcontraband
detectedduringaprotectivepatdown.TheTerryv.Ohiorulingmakesitclearthatprotective
patdownsmayonlybeusedtofindandseizedangerousweapons.Therefore,theMinneapolis
policeofficersviolatedrespondentsfourthamendmentwhentheytheirsearchwentpastthe
limitssetbyTerryv.Ohio.
