AmCham Shanghai honors Coca-Cola’s Outstanding CSR efforts in China

(Shanghai, Nov. 19, 2009) The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai today
announced Coca-Cola China as the winner of the 2009 CSR Award at the AmCham
Shanghai 2009 Corporate Social Responsibility Conference and Awards, honoring the
beverage company’s outstanding CSR efforts in China.

The award marks the third straight year that Coca-Cola has been recognized for its CSR
work in China and honored with an award. Since the annual CSR Awards was launched
by Amcham Shanghai in 2005 to recognize China-based companies with exceptional
CSR programs, Coca-Cola has won the Environmental Stewardship Award in 2005, and
the Merit Award for CSR Program Excellence in China in 2006.

“Coca-Cola is committed to making a positive difference in the communities we operate

through our continuous effort to promote sustainable development, “ said Brenda Lee,
Vice President of Public Affairs & Communications, Coca-Cola China, at the CSR
Awards Ceremony. “We are extremely honored to be recognized by Amcham Shanghai.”

“We strive to be responsible in our business operations, and also respond to community
needs where our time and resources can make a meaningful impact,” Lee said. “Our
overall CSR objectives are to lead in terms of sustainable water and energy use, climate
protection activities and community wellbeing.”

This year marks Coca-Cola’s 30-year anniversary since the Company re-entered China
in 1979. China has become the company’s third largest global market after the US and
Mexico, and making a positive contribution to China is high on Coca-Cola’s agenda. To
date, Coca-Cola China has contributed more than Rmb 70 million in sustainability
programs in environment, education and community wellbeing, and committed another
Rmb 100 for the Sichuan earthquake relief and reconstruction efforts.

Water is the focal point of Coca-Cola’s environmental stewardship. Coca-Cola has

pledged US$20 million to a five-year partnership with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to
protect freshwater resources in seven of the world’s most important freshwater river
basins, including the Yangtze River. The company has also organized a community
water conservation program in which over 800,000 students from 22 cities have
participated, and a rain water harvesting program which has provided 4,200 families in
12 villages in Northwest China with clean drinking water.

Coca-Cola has dedicated significant resources into its educational initiatives. Since
1993, Coca-Cola has been a major partner of Project Hope, which provides education
for children in rural and underserved communities. In conjunction with the China Youth
Development Foundation, Coca-Cola has build 61 Project Hope schools, 100 Project
Hope libraries, and 56 internet learning centers and multimedia classrooms, improving
the educational environment for over 60,000 rural school children.

Furthermore, 24,000 students received nutritious soy milk three times a week, and 53
schools have improved their water sanitation situation with the support from the Coca-
Cola “Health Journey” project. Eco-friendly coolers are being placed in the markets and
