GROUNDING
A. Drawings and general provisions of Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions
and Division 1 Specifications, apply to this and the other Sections of Division 16.
A. Install complete grounding system in accordance with latest National Electrical Code and all
state and local codes and ordinances.
B. Conform to UL standards.
1.04 TESTS:
A. Measure ground grid resistance with earth test megger and install additional ground rods and
conductors as required until resistance to ground complies with latest NEC requirements.
A. Furnish and install a grounding plate, minimum ¼”x3”x24” long to connect main grounding
system to Switchboard and Emergency Generator, as well as other systems such as fire alarm,
main telephone service, etc.
A. Furnish and install green insulated ground conductors in raceway to main ground and domestic
metallic water main with proper ground clamps.
B. Main Distribution System: From ground bus, provide insulated ground conductor in raceway to
ground bus within switchboard, and to non-current carrying parts. The building's main ground
shall consist of a "uffer" ground sized in accordance with Table 250-66 of the National
Electrical Code.
C. Circuit Grounding: Furnish and install grounding bushings, ground terminal blocks, and
grounding jumpers at distribution centers, pullboxes, panelboards, etc.
D. Bonding Jumpers: Furnish and install green insulation, size correlated with over-current device
protection the wire, attach to grounding bushings on conduit, to lugs on boxes and other
enclosures. Connection to neutral only at service neutral bar with separate lug.
E. Bonding Wires: Furnish and install bonding wire in flexible conduit connected at each end to a
grounding bushing.
F. All common area receptacle circuits shall have equipment grounding conductor included in each
branch circuit as well as in the feeder serving the panelboard. Equipment grounding conductor
shall be sized in accordance with Table 250-122 of the National Electrical Code.
G. Grounding of all conduit, panelboards, boxes, and equipment shall conform to requirements of
the latest edition of the National Electrical Code. Continuity of metal raceways shall be insured
by the use of double locknuts or other approved means.
H. Ground connectors shall be of pressure type similar and equal to Burndy or 0-Z and of type to
suit various conditions.
A. Telephone/Data:
1. Furnish and install one #6 THW from ground bus in telephone/data equipment space to
main system ground.
2. Furnish and install one #12 THW to raceways terminating at backboard.
A. Provide grounding to all other utilities metal piping such as gas lines, sprinklers, etc. All
grounding shall be in accordance with Article 250 of the National Electrical Code. Minimum
copper conductor shall be #6 AWG copper.
