DEADLINE: August 31, 2014

Dear District Attorney,

I am a constituent residing in your County. Due to an overwhelming need to fight Animal Cruelty in a more
sophisticated manner, plus a desire to reduce costs to my County, I support the concept of assigning a specific
Animal ADA (Assistant District Attorney) in every County within Pennsylvania. Once assigned, such an
Animal ADA can be:
1) Rapidly approached by constituents, during Animal Cruelty cases.
2) Consistently KNOWLEDGEABLE regarding nuances of each animal species, and varying types of cruelty.
3) Instantly able to reach out to a mirror colleague, whenever Animal Cruelty cases cross County lines.
4) Be able to more easily track abusers as they move around to other Counties.

Additionally, I urge you to make a formal request to the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association.
Please encourage this organization to create an annual training course specifically for Animal ADAs.
This effort could occur through their Institute (their education and training affiliate). Annual training courses
should provide the Animal ADAs with Instructors who meet these standards:
1) Are already animal professionals.
2) Are also Law Enforcement agents and Veterinarians from Pennsylvania.
3) Are currently teaching courses on Animal Cruelty prosecution for Law Enforcement.
4) Possess a quality understanding of niche criminal behavior, occurring within various animal industries.
5) Can be an expert source for Animal ADAs to reach out to, during prosecution of cruelty cases.

Once created, this effort will:
1) Reduce the lengthy (and therefore costly) learning curve, typically associated with animal cases.
2) Provide higher quality support to Humane Officers, Police, Judges, and County residents.
3) Result in better prosecution results, which will therefore protect more animals.

Please consider my request, and support the assignment and education of an Animal ADA in my County.
