Overview
GE has been working in India since 1902, with many
milestones including:
1902: Set up Indias rst hydro power plant in Karnataka
1969: Set up nuclear reactors at Tarapore
1982: GE engines power Indian Airlines and Air India
1986: Partnership with BHEL for gas turbines
1989: JV with Wipro: GE Healthcare established
1998: JV with SBI established
1998: Pioneered Business Process Outsourcing
1999: Established JFWTC (Now GE India Technology Center)
at Bangalore
2003: The rst engine for the LCA-Tejas is delivered
2010: Wind facility at Pune
Overview
GE Oil & Gas has been active in India for nearly 50 years
and we grow more committed to the country every year
continually making signicant investments in localization and
technology initiatives.
We have three technology and engineering centers
developing products and service solutions customized to local
requirements, and we are injecting $200 million into a new
state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Pune. Our current
sites include six manufacturing facilities, nine service centers,
and advanced equipment validation, moisture and calibration
labs where our teams are developing next generation non-
destructive testing technologies.

Pune Manufacturing Facility
With a total GE investment of $200 million, the
new Pune, Maharashtra manufacturing facility will
strengthen our commitment and roots in India.
Covering 68 acres in Chakan II, Maharashtra Industrial
Park, Pune will be GEs rst multi-modal large-scale
manufacturing facility in the country. Our new
Indian home for technology and innovation will have
signicant, long-term positive impact on employment,
economic and resource growth throughout the country
and across many industries.

John F. Welch Technology Center
The John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC)
was GEs rst and remains the largest integrated
multidisciplinary research and product development
center outside of the USA.
Inaugurated in 2000 with a staff of 275, we have
continually invested in this facility, which now employs
over 4,500 people. The JFWTC team pioneered the
Reverse Innovation strategy and has over 1,000
patents to its credit.
The center collaborates with GEs four other global
R&D facilities (Niskayuna, New York; Munich, Germany;
Shanghai, China and Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) to conduct
research & development and engineering activities for
all of our diverse businesses worldwide.

Hyderabad Tech Center
This facility opened in 2006 with an energy engineering
team of 185 and quickly became a hub of full-spectrum
technological excellence from exploration to utilization.
The now 700-strong team has over 150 IDLs and 20
patents since 2009.
The center is home to complete engineering teams
for several GE businesses, including Controls & Power
Electronics, Renewables Software, Software Solutions
Group, Digital-Energy, Jenbacher Controls, Oil & Gas,
Electrication and Electronics, Industrial Solutions
and Measurement & Control. The site has complete
ownership of products such as Smart Meter and
Motors, a wind-farm management system and global
air circuit breakers.

This joint venture between GE Oil & Gas and Triveni
Turbines Ltd. is headquartered in Bengaluru with
regional ofces in Malaysia, Italy, South Africa, Brazil
and the USA. We produce steam turbines with outputs
ranging from 30-100 MW for the global industrial power
generation market.
GE Triveni turbines use proven GE Oil & Gas technology
and engineering design, and are manufactured in
the state-of-the-art Triveni Turbine facility in Peenya
Industrial Area. The portfolio delivers signicant value to
customers in terms of operating efciency to counter-
balance continually increasing input fuel and energy
costs.

The Coimbatore team produces between 6,000 and

This facility provides solutions for pipeline transfer,
storage and distribution of chemical, petrochemical
and petroleum products in tankers, rail wagons and
barges at distribution depots, marketing terminals,
reneries, ports and retail outlets.
