Learning Focus -
they use ICT to acquire new knowledge and skills in all areas of the curriculum and to create and
present information in meaningful ways.

Learning Focus -
students begin to apply simple techniques, such as bolding, centring and changing case. They explore
a range of different information products and identify intended audiences. Students display their own
information products in a way that suits different audiences.

Teacher Observation
Students Background Knowledge What is your starting point what do the students already know, what have they done before, how does this connect to or build on their existing
knowledge?
Students have already started to work on their Powerpoint presentations. They have already been exposed to adding a few slides and creating their
introduction slide. From this they will build on their skills to further develop their understanding of the features Powerpoint has to offer.
Resources and Materials What materials and resources will you need to have prepared?
Computer lab, Smartboard or projection board, an example of a Powerpoint slide to work with.
Student Teacher Focus What will you concentrate on yourself eg; classroom management, lesson flow, voice, positioning, engagement etc?
My focus for this lesson is on my voice, I need to be able to demonstrate how to apply skills into their power points through clear, slow instructions.
Stage of lesson Tasks Time Student action
What will students be
doing? Explain how the
students are expected to
work.
Teacher action
What will you do during this time? What prompting questions
may you need to prepare? How will you monitor student
progress and needs?
What preparations have you made for early finishers so that
they will be extended in a relevant and interesting way?
Stage 1 Introduction
How will you engage and
stimulate the interest of the
students?
Include possible
questions that
you may choose
to use
Demonstrations etc
INTRODUCTION
Before going to the Computer Lab, the teacher will let the
students know that they will be focusing on their Powerpoint
slides which will be used in the parent-teacher interviews.
They will be reminded to think about a subject they havent
covered yet in their slides.

5 mins
Sit as group on floor and
listening to the teacher.
Once able to, students will
grab their ICT lanyards
and ear phones.

They will line up in pairs
and reasonably quietly
walk out to the computer
lab (suggest to be soldiers
and march to their
destination).

The teacher will outline the expectations from the start when
using computers and will give hint on the slide they will be
working on this less.

What have we been learning about during our reading
sessions?
Hint: Its a class of animal
Stage 2 Body of lesson
Describe each distinct
task in the order to be
undertaken. Start a new
task each time the
teacher or students
behave in a different
manner. State an
estimated length of time
for each task.
Ensure that there is
some form of prompt or
reinforcement available
for students
What preparations have
you made for early
finishers of each task so
that they will be
extended in a relevant
and interesting way?
TASK: Powerpoint skills
The teacher will ask the students to first log onto their
computers.
They will have to bring up their Powerpoint slides from their
student hard drive. And create a new slide, find appropriate
layout, add the title : Integrated Studies, Insert a clip art
picture of an appropriate mammal of their choice, and type
up in bullet point 5 facts about mammals.

20 mins
Students will be constantly
following the directions of
the teacher by watching
the projection screen.

The teacher must ensure that the instructions are slow and
clear.
Wait for all students to complete each stage before moving on to
the next step. Come around to those that need assistance so
that they dont fall behind. Be sure to be showing a example of
your own for students to use reference of.
EXTRA TIME - REWARD
Once approved by the teacher, students who have finished
their slide can SAVE their work and move onto Mathletics as
their reward for completing the task.

20 mins

Students will be working
on their own computers
keeping noise to a medium
level.

The teacher will roam around the room ensuring that all
students have completed the task and that they have done it
properly.

Stage 5: Closure
Do you need to prepare
the students for handing
over to another teacher,
or another subject
PACK UP
Students to log out of their computers, take their lanyards
and head phones with them, tuck the chairs in and line up in
pairs like soldiers!

2-3mins
Students are packing up
as per usual ICT
procedure.
Thank the students for participating! :)

Double check the room so nothing is left behind.
Reflection on Student Learning What did you observe about student learning?

Students did well in completing the Powerpoint task by practising and utilising their computer skills demonstrated by myself.

Comments on Future Lesson Directions Are there areas you need to go over or move beyond?

I would need to find a strategy next time so ensure that everyone is on the same stage of following the instructions. (eg.) Put your hand on your head if you have finished this part.

Reflection on Lesson How was the timing or the flow of the lesson? What other observations did you make?

The timing went really well, student finished the activity before the elected time frame and were thus given a turn of Mathletics to give the slower workers a chance to also finish their slides
without feeling pressured to rush their work.

Reflection on Student Teacher Outcomes Did you meet your own focus objectives? Could you still improve in that area? Were there other areas you feel you could concentrate on in the
future? What were the positive points of your lesson?

I feel like I did mainly make my focus objectives, my voice was loud enough to hear the instructions. Next time, I would concentrate on taking the stages of instructions even slower as some
students can be lacking in computer skills as apposed to others and its not fair to disadvantage them. I was really pleased to see that students had no trouble thinking of the main
characteristics of mammals and focused at the start of the week!
