The saints are ready to help us!

Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven. Mark 10:4
Sunday, June 15, 2014 Volume 2, Issue 24
Do you know a SAINT? Do you know a SAINT? Do you know a SAINT? Do you know a SAINT?
Have you ever met a saint? Maybe.
Sometimes we might think of saints as liv-
ing many, many years ago. But saints are
alive among us today. Thats because peo-
ple who love God very, very much are
around us today!
Just a few months ago, our Orthodox Church
declared a man a saint. His name was Elder
Porphyrios. Now, we can call him St. Porphy-
rios! St. Porphyrios was a monk and a priest
who lived in Greece. He died in
1991. He spent a lot of his life
working at a hospital chaplain in Athens, Greece.
God gave St. Porphyrios many gifts. One was that he
could know things without being told. Sometimes he
would know what people were thinking. Or he would
come visit somebody without being called. He called
this his spiritual television.
Today is the Sunday of All Saints. Always remember that
God calls each one of us to be saints. And we always have
examples (like St. Porphyrios!) to help us.

How can I pray to a saint?
For cancer

For cancer
One of our favorite
saints is St. Nektarios
of Aegina, Greece. He
listens to us, espe-
cially when we pray
for somebody sick
with cancer.
For married people For married people For married people For married people
Saints Joachim and
Anna are the parents of
Mary, the Theotokos.
You can pray to them for
your parents to have a
good marriage, focused
on God.
For cooking For cooking For cooking For cooking
St. Euphrosynos was a
monk and a cook! We
can pray to him for
help with cooking, es-
pecially for church!
For finding things For finding things For finding things For finding things
Many people pray to St.
Phanourios when they
have lost something. Why?
Maybe because nobody
knew about this saint for a
long time. Then, we
found out about him!
For eyes For eyes For eyes For eyes
You can pray to St. Paraskevi
when a person is having eye
trouble. She is a saint who
was tortured by having her
eyes taken outall because
she refused to deny Christ.

Last year, on All Saints Sunday, we learned about a few saints we can pray to
for different things. Lets see some more! Always remember that saints lived
here on earth, just like we do. They understand our problems. You can pray to
different saints for your different needs!
