Game 2 is in the books and like any playoff tilt, it did not disappoint.
The Whalers could not solve the solid combination of Justin Nichols and the Storms Defense. This led to Justin
Nichols first shutout of the playoffs.
Unlike last nights game, neither team took a first period penalty.
Adefensive battle in the first limited Guelphs chances of scoring, but Matt Finn managed to put in a one timer
from Zack Mitchell and Kerby Rychel at 4:39.
Finns lone goal gave Guelph a 1-0 lead after the first 20 minutes.
The second period opened with a scrum in front of the Plymouth net which led to Guelphs first power play as a
result of a game misconduct from Plymouths Ryan Hartman.
This seemed to spark the Storm as Nick Ebert beat Alex Nedeljkovic with a point shot. The helpers going again
to Zack Mitchell and Kerby Rychel.
This opened the floodgates for second period penalties.
Arouse between Scott Kosmachuk and Vincent Scognamiglio led to Plymouths first power play and the second
misconduct of the game for Plymouth.
Kerby Rychel and Brock McGinn were together in the sin bin for 1:44 and Plymouth took the two man advantage.
Nichols was a wall during Plymouths 5 on 3, making three massive saves to hang onto the shut out opportunity.
2-0 Guelph after 40 minutes.
It was a much quieter third period.
Plymouth pulled Alex Nedeljkovic with less than three minutes left in an attempt to get on the board.
Even with the extra attacker the Storm could not be solved, leading to Brock McGinn scoring his second of the
playoffs on the empty net.
Alex Nedeljkovic was the difference in Guelph having a high scoring game. He stopped 35 of the 37 shots he
faced and rightfully earned the second star honour.
