It gives me great pleasure to extend a warm note of greetings to all the
successful candidates of JEE(Main) -2014 and invite all the eligible candidates to participate in the CSAB-2014 admission process. I am writing this to highlight the important changes in the admission procedure that have been made in this years counseling process as compared with that of the previous year. About 1.3 million students have appeared for JEE(Main) this year and our endeavor has been to make the counseling and admission process as candidate friendly as possible so as to reduce the anxiety and inconvenience associated with the admissions. Similar to previous year, this years counseling also would be online, with certain modifications compared to the 2013 process. It would involve four rounds of seat allotment instead of three rounds of seat allotment as compared to last year, followed by a spot admission round. This modification has been introduced to minimize the gap between the date of completion of counseling process and the date of starting of classes. There is a provision for fresh registration for candidates before the fourth and spot round for those who did not register before the first round. Candidates will be paying their initial fees through electronic fee payment system only, i.e. e-Challan, net banking, credit/debit card etc. Candidates have the choice to choose the bank for initial fees payment as per their convenience. To facilitate counseling process, Reporting/Help Centers have been set up across the length and breadth of the country. Candidates are advised to choose the Reporting/Help Centre as per their convenience. There are different types of participating institutes, viz., NITs, IIITs, other Central/State Government Funded Technical Institutes and Self Financed Technical Institutes in which admissions are being done through CSAB-2014. The list of participating institutes is given on the CSAB-2014 website along with links to individual institutes. Candidates are advised to do a due diligence regarding the participating institutes with regard to the courses offered, fee structure and other relevant facts, before filling choices of institutes and courses during counseling. All candidates are advised to read the brochure carefully and understand the process clearly before undertaking registration and choice filling. An attempt is being made to provide an multilingual online web/power point/youtube based tutorial to explain the online process, so as to enable all the eligible candidates to make use of the online process effectively. CSAB-2014 wishes that candidates make judicious choices thereby ensuring that the counseling process concludes smoothly. Candidates after getting an allotment in any one of the institutes are requested to take timely decision, so that in case they vacate the seat, the same can be offered to other eligible candidates. CSAB-2014 would bring out important and relevant information from time to time for smooth implementation of counseling. All such information that is periodically updated would be available on the CSAB-2014 website www.csab.nic.in. Candidates should frequently visit this website, as well as the website of the institute where they are planning to join. I am sure that the CSAB-2014 admission process will provide a simple and efficient way of admission. I once again take this opportunity to wish all stakeholders the very best in the CSAB- 2014 counseling process.
