Thank you for your interest in being an SDP mentor! We aim to create a
program where both mentee and mentor benefit from a meaningful
experience. We will match new students with a successful and experienced
student (thats you) who will become their mentor. We believe that:
Supportive relationships + academic support + leadership skill development =
Successful graduates and a strong Missouri S & T community.
Vision: A strong, connected underrepresented minority community at Missouri
S & T that develops positive college experiences, relationships, and successful
graduates.
Mission: The SDP Mentoring program will serve an important role in creating a
strong, connected, and successful underrepresented minority community at
Missouri S & T. By building supportive relationships, sharing resources, and
developing student as well rounded individuals; students will be given the skills
to be exceptional in college and beyond.
The SDP Peer Mentors will serve for the academic year. Mentors guidelines
are listed below:
Mentors are to stay in good academic standing. (GPA of 2.5 or better if you
dont have a 2.5 + but are close and have a plan to improve please indicate this
on your application.
Weekly communication in any form, and bi-monthly, in person communication
(minimum) between the mentor and mentee.
Participate in the mandatory workshop AND match up event held at the start
of the semester.
Attend other Mentoring Program events (monthly) sponsored by SDP
throughout the year.
Attend a mid-semester check-in with an SDP staff member.
