We look forward to request you for attend that conference. JSA is the Indian circle of the People's Health Movement, a worldwide movement to establish health and equitable development as top priorities through comprehensive primary health care and action on the social determinants of health. The JSA coalition consists of over 22 national networks and resource groups, over 1000 grassroots organisations as well as a large number of individuals and works through state level coordinated units and also has a strong presence at the national level. People in our country continue to suffer and die unnecessarily due to poor access to health care and various socio-economic causes that lead to ill-health. Around 2 million of our children younger than 5 years die an untimely death every year which is highest in the world. One-third of all malnourished children are Indian. While we are still struggling with communicable diseases such as Malaria, TB etc, we have growing challenge of non communicable diseases such as Diabetes, cancer etc. Moreover, the cost of health care is a leading cause of poverty. The list can go on. Paradoxically, this is happening at a time when we have the resources, knowledge and skills to usher in real change. Given this context, Jan Swasthya Abhiyan has proposed some clear policy proposals. We would request to all political party to commit to enclosed proposals, and if elected to power, to deliver upon them. We are confident that these important measures would be extremely popular among people, and parties which publicly commit to these measures would enjoy widespread public support. We look forward to inclusion of these proposals in your election manifesto and campaign to express commitment to the health of people of our country. We also would like to inform you that JSA is organizing a pre-election national convention on March 28 th , 2014 at Indian Social Institute (ISI), 10, Institutional Area, Lodi Road, New Delhi, 110003 from 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm to interact with the representatives of various political parties and discuss the manifesto. We look forward to seeing you at the discussion on 28th March.
