110TH TECHNICAL GRADUATES COURSE (JAN 2010)

Applications are invited from Engineering Graduate MALE Indian citizens
including temporary Central/State Govt. servants, serving personnel of
the regular Army and Territorial Army (including officers of Territorial
Army)and serving personnel of Navy and Air Force for 110th Technical
Graduates Course (commencing in Jan 2010) as per following details
and instructions:
1. TYPE OF ENTRY
*TGC: (a) Engineering Graduates : Eligible for induction into all Arms/
Services. (b) Post Graduate (Non-Engg.) : Eligible for induction into the
Army Education Corps (AEC).
2. VACANCIES :
110th TGC :
(a) Engineers : 59 (Civil-07, Electrical-04, Mechanical-07, Computer
Science -05, Telecomn-09, Electronics-06, IT-04, Architecture-02, Public
Health Eng.-03, Construction Engg.-03, Industrial Engg & Management-
05, Mining-04).
(b) AEC : Post Graduates (Non-Engg) — English/Economics/Music
(Preferably Western Music) - 01.
*NOTE : The number of vacancies given above are tentative and may
be changed at any stage by Army Headquarters.
3. CONDITION Of ELIGIBILITY :
(a) Nationality: A candidate must either be : (i) A citizen of India, or (ii)
A subject of Bhutan, or (iii) A subject of Nepal, or (iv) a Tibetan refugee
who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention
of permanently settling in India or (v) a person of Indian origin who has
migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of
Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire
and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in
India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and
(v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has
been issued by the Government of India. Certificate of eligibility will
however, not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkhas
subject of Nepal.
(b) Minimum Educational Qualification: (i) For Technical Arms and
Services (Engineers). A degree in Engineering or equivalent degree
from a recognised University as specified in para 2(a).
(ii) For Army Education Corps: MA degree from a University recognized
by AIU in 1st or 2nd division as specified in para 2(b).
Note: Recruiting Directorate reserves the right to shortlist applications
and to fix cut off percentage without assigning any reason. No
communication will be entertained on this account.
(c) Age Limit: (I) For Engineering Graduates : 20 to 27 years. Born not
earlier than 02 Jan 83 and not later than 01 Jan 90. (ab) For non-Engg
Post Graduates (Army Eudcation Corps) : 23 to 27 years. Born not
earlier than 02 Jan 83 and not later than 01 Jan 87.
4. Method of Selection: The Selection process to be followed is
indicated below: (a) Initial Screening and short listing of applicants will
be done at Recruiting Directorate Army Headquarters and the decision
of ADG Recruiting will be final. In this regard no representation will be
entertained. (b) Candidates whose applications are found in order shall
be detailed to appear at the Service Selection Board on a specified date.
List of such candidates alongwith nominated Selection Centres for SSB
will be displayed on website http://indianarmy.gov.in. For further queries
regarding receipt of call letters, reporting date, items/documents to be
carried and for change of dates if any, candidates may call on the
following Telephone nos of respective Selection Centres:- (a) Allahabad-

They will be required to undergo Group Test, Psychological Test and an
interview for a duration of five days excluding the date of reporting at the
Service Selection Centre. (c) The candidates who qualify at the Service
selection Board and are found medically fit by a Medical Board will be
placed in order of merit. The final selection will be made in that order
upto the number of vacancies available at the time. (d) Two Stage
Selection Procedure: Two stage selection procedure based on
Psychological Aptitude Test has been introduced at selection centres. All
the candidates will face stage one test on first day of reporting at
Selection Centres. The candidates who qualify at stage one will be
admitted to the second stage/remaining test and all those who fail to
pass stage one, will be returned. (e) Those candidates who qualify
stage II will submit the original certificate along with one photocopy each
of (i) Matriculation Cert. showing date of birth (ii) Original Degree or Prov
degree with all years/parts/semesters marksheets at Selection Centre.
(f) Medical Examination: All candidates recommended by the Service
Selection Board will undergo medical examination by a board of Service
medical officers. Only those candidates will be admitted to the Academy
who are declared fit by the medical board. However the candidates
declared unfit by the Special Medical Board (SMB), will be intimated by
the President of medical Board and Procedure for request for Appeal
Medical Board (AMB) will also be intimated to the candidate. Unfit
candidate should report for AMB within maximum 42 days. Candidates
are advised in their own interest to appear for AMB well in time and
should not wait for last date given by the SMB. Candidates are advised
to note that Rtg. Directorate has no role to play in Appeal Medical Board;
the procedure advised by medical authorities is strictly to be adhered to.
Candidates declared unfit by AMB will be intimated by the president AMB
about procedure of challenging the findings of AMB on producing a
medical certificate from civil authorities not below the status of CMO/
Professor. The candidates will also be intimated that Review Medical
Board (RMB) will be granted at the discretion of DGAFMS based on the
merits of the case and that RMB is not a matter of right. Candidates will
only be considered medically fit on receipt of the approved medical
board proceeding from Directorate General, Medical Services, in Add Dte
Gen Rtg. To be passed fit, a candidate must be in good physical and
mental health and free from any disability likely to interfere with the
efficient performance of duty. In your own interest you are advised to
undergo a preliminary medical check up for wax in ears, DNS,
Hydrocele/Phimosis, Defective Colour Vision, Over Weight/Under Weight,
Under Chest, Piles, Gynaecomastia, Tonsillitis or varicocele before
reporting for the SSB interview.
HEIGHT AND WEIGHT
Candidates meeting Height/Weight and Visual standards as per existing
regulation only will be accepted.
The minimum acceptable Height is 157.5 cms. with correlated weight.
For Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North Eastern region
of India, Garhwal and Kumaon, the minimum acceptable height will be
5 cm less. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum
acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cms.
VISUAL STANDARDS : (i) The acceptable visual acuity are: Distant Vision
(corrected) better eye 6/6, worse eye 6/18, myopia of not more than
minus 3.50 including astigmatism. (ii) Candidates who have under-gone
or have the evidence of having undergone Radial Keratotomy to improve
the visual acuity, will be permanently rejected: also candidates who have
undergone Laser Surgery for correction of refractive error will be
considered for commission in Army if they fulfil following criteria:-
(i) Uncomplicated stable LASIK/Excimer (PRK) laser procedure done
for Myopia or Hypermetropia with stable refraction for a period of six
months after the procedure.
(ii) A healthy retina.
(iii) Corrected vision should be 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in worse eye,
with maximum residual refraction of +_1.50 in any meridian for
myopia or hypermetropia.
(iv) Axial length within permissible limits.
5. Physical Fitness Standard at IMA : Prospective candidates are
advised to exercise and keep themselves physically fit, in order to avoid
any injury due to the rigorous physical training at IMA. In order to be able
to adjust to the regime there, candidates are advised to achieve following
standards before joining the IMA, if finally selected; (i) Running 2.4 km
in 15 minutes. (ii) Push Ups - 13 Nos. (iii) Sit Ups - 25 Nos. (iv) Chin
Ups - 6 Nos. (v) Rope Climbing 3-4 Meters. (b) Candidates who do not
pass the physical test at the Training Academies are liable to be
relegated by six months. They may even be withdrawn if they do not show
improvement.
6. Training and prospects: (a) Selected candidates for Technical
Graduates Course will be detailed for training at Indian Military Academy,
Dehradun according to their position in the final order of merit, discipline
wise upto the number of vacancies available at the time. (b) Duration of
training One year. (c) Training at IMA is at Govt. expense. (i) Engineering
Graduates will be granted permanent commission in the rank of Lt with
two years antedate seniority from the date of granting commission. (ii)
Non-engineering Post Graduates applying for AEC will be Granted
Permanent Commission in the rank of Lt. However they are not entitled
to any ante date seniority MSP.
7. PAY AND ALLOWANCES AND OTHER BENEFITS AS APPLICABLE:
During the period of training the candidates will be given a stipend of Rs.
21,000/- p.m. (Rs. 15,600/- as pay in Pay Band plus Grade Pay Rs.
5,400/-). On completion of training Officers are commissioned as Lt and
entitled to the pay band of Rs. 15,600-39,000 with DA at present with
other benefits like military service pay transport allowance, furnished
accommodation, free medical facilities, LTC, 60 days annual leave, 20
days casual leave, canteen facilities, entitled ration as per scale and
certain other allowances based on place of posting etc. Army Group
Insurance provides insurance cover of Rs. 30 lakhs to the Gentlemen
Cadets of IMA from the date of joining these institutes for pre-
commission training. Regular officers on superannuation may be
employed with the Army as re-employed officers upto the age of 58 years.
8. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS: (a) Candidates for Technical Arms and
Services (Engineers) holding diploma awarded by State Boards of
Technical Education are Not Eligible to apply. (b) Candidates who submit
more than one application will be disqualified for this course as well as
from applying for commission in the Army in future. (c) Candidates
withdrawn on disciplinary ground from NDA, IMA and OTA are NOT
eligible to apply for commission into Army. (d) Candidates not in receipt
of call-up letter from any of the selection Centre for SSB interview should
presume that either their application has been received after due date
or could not come in short-list or found ineligible. No correspondence in
this regard will be entertained.
9. HOW TO APPLY : (a) Apply on fulscape paper (typed) as per format
given in the advertisement only. Applicants can also use the Common
Application Form down loaded from Indian Army websites http://
www.indianarmy.org.in. (b) Only attach photocopies of the following
documents or certificates along with the application which should be
properly tagged and duly attested by Government Gazetted Officer (i)
Matriculation Certificate issued by Board of Secondary Education or
Central Board of Secondary Education as proof of date of birth (transfer
certificate, affidavit etc. are not acceptable) (ii) Degree/provisional
certificate alongwith Marksheets of all the years/parts/semesters as
proof of educational qualification. (iii) Affix your photograph in the
space provided in the application form self attested. (iv) NCC ‘C’
Certificate Or National Certificate of Bravery/Gallantry Award Or Certificate
showing representing of the State in National Sports competition may
also be attached, if any, held. (c) Application incomplete in any respect
and/or without any of the above mentioned documents {as indicated at
Paras 9(a), 9(b)(i), 9(b)(ii), and 9(b)(iii)} and/or not duly attested by a Govt
Gazetted officer will be rejected summarily. (d) The provisional degree
certificate in support of education qualification should clearly state that
the student has passed the specified degree examination and is eligiblie
for award of Degree. (e) No original certificates will be enclosed with
the application. (f) The application should be sent in an envelope
SUPERSCRIBED IN RED INK on the top left corner indicating the entry
and also the subject/discipline.

Persons already in Central or State Govt. Service whether permanent or
in temporary capacity or as work-charge employee or those serving
under the Public Sector enterprises are required to submit an undertaking
that they have informed their head of office/ department in writing that they
have applied for commission in the Army. Candidates should note that
in case a communication is received by this HQ from their employer
withholding permission for such application, their application shall be
rejected and candidature cancelled. (I) All candidates serving in the
Armed Forces must get their applications countersigned by their OC/CO.

10. CHANGE IN INTERVIEW DATES
a) Request for Change of SSB Interview dates will not be accepted.
However under most unavoidable circumstances, such a change may be
considered based on the circumstances of the case. This will be an
exception rather than a rule. Request for such change duly supported by
a certificate from a Government Gazetted Officer alongwith one unstamped
self addressed envelop should be sent to Selection Centre from where
the call-up letter for SSB Interview has been received and NOT to
Additional Directorate General of Recruiting. (b) No request for change
of interview centre will be entertained under any circumstances.
