What is Soul Survivor?

Soul Survivor grew out of an Anglican church, St Andrews Chorleywood that was
equipping Christians to move in the power of the Holy Spirit through the New Wine family
conferences. Fast forward 20 years or so and Soul Survivor is in its teens, and is
passionate about seeing other teenagers living for Jesus and taking his love to their part of
the world.
The vision for the Soul Survivor conferences is to offer time away that is specically for
teenagers with loads of fun stuff going on, where Christians and non-Christians can come
and hang out but the heart of it is about worshipping God, learning what it means to be a
Christian practically and spiritually and experiencing the Holy Spirit personally. Soul
Survivor events are primarily attended by church youth groups as part of this.
This is the rst Soul Survivor festival to be held in Scotland and it is expected that as many
as a thousand of young people will be attending for the 5 days.
When is it?
Soul Survivor is running a 5 day conference at the Thainstone Centre in Scotland aimed at
12 - 18 year old from Tuesday 15th July Saturday 19th July.

Where is it?
Soul Survivor Scotland is being held at the Thainstone Centre. We will be traveling by
Minibus.

Overview of the week
There are two main meetings, one in the morning and one in the evening where everyone
comes together for worship, teaching and ministry. The afternoon can be split between
social stuff and seminars. There are 6 seminars running during the day and the topics are
as varied as preparing for leadership, sexuality and justice. There are cafes open in the
afternoon to give space to socialise with friends and relax. Those feeling energetic can get
involved with the sports team or visit the skate park. In the evenings the cafs run
events or for a more relaxed evening they can watch lms at the cinema.
Main Sessions
The main meetings usually start with a time of worship, singing songs one after each other
with very little interruption. This is followed by a talk, there are different talks in the morning
and the evening and often guest speakers come and share about their lives and
experiences. The meetings end with another worship time, this is also a time for response.
Often after worshipping at the beginning and then hearing the word people can sense God
wanting to do things in their hearts and lives. Soul Survivor like to give as much time as
possible to this and it involves us all praying for each other. We will expecting all of the
young people from SBC to attend each of these sessions.
Seminars
Seminars run at 9.30am, 2.30pm and 4pm days 2 5. They are an hour long and are run
by speakers who talk on some really brilliant topics. Seminars are optional but we do
encourage young people to get involved and go along to any that catch their eye.
Social Time
There are specied times where social time is the priority. During these times we will not
always be together as a youth group and each young person will be free to attend the
activity of their choice. In the afternoon there is plenty of time to socialise and get to know
new people. In the evenings the whole campsite livens up, the caf venues are joined by
bands. Not to mention late night worship, the Toolshed, the Sports venue and the Cinema.
