Function Description
Level sensors are used as measuring sensors Ior the electrical continuous
remote display oI levels. Level Sensors work on Iloat principle with
magnetic transmission. The magnetic Iield, which is in the ball or cylindrical
Iloats actuates very small reed contacts through the wall oI a guide tube and
these pick up an uninterrupted measuring-circuit voltage Irom a resistance
chain.

Change
a) II the diameter oI the Iloat (3) is larger than the inside diameter oI the
unit (1), the Iloat must be removed beIore the unit is disassembled. The
adjusting rings (4) must be reIitted in the same position as it was beIore
the dismantling.
b) Remove sealring (2).
c) Assemble in reverse order.

FunctionaI Test
 The user is responsible Ior periodically carrying out a Iunctional test.
 Do not operate level sensors in close proximity to powerIul electromagnetic
Iields. (Minimum clearance: 1 meter).
A Iunctional test can be perIormed on the measuring chain with the sensor
either removed or in situ. II the units are in situ, it must be possible to Iill the
system.
a) Remove connection cable.
b) Connect ohmmeter to two wires.
c) Move Iloat manually or by Iilling the system Irom the min. to max.
points.
d) The resistance reading displayed changes continouosly as a Iunction oI
the wire coulours connected.

Resistance increases in
proportion to the height
of the float.
Resistance falls from the
value of the overall resist-
ance in inverse proportion to
the height of the float.
