This document provides steps to install a Business Objects (BO) repository locally on a laptop. This allows analyzing and developing BO reports and universes offline by creating a connection to an Access database on the laptop. The steps include:
1. Creating an ODBC data source pointing to the local Access database
2. Opening the BO Supervisor and creating a new repository connected to the ODBC data source
3. Completing the repository setup which allows opening and storing universes and reports on the local laptop independently of the customer's system.

Install a BO repository on your local laptop to analyze/develop
reports and universes offline A typical approach to the production of customized BO reports and universes is to install the Business Objects client products on your laptop and then be granted a connection to the customers repository and database to be able to work either on site or remotely (i.e. via rsg connection. !n some cases it is also possible to set up a copy of the customer database on a lab spare wheel" but in general BO re#uires the user to log on to a security domain in order to open a universe file" and the underlying connection must be available to complete the logon process. $his makes it impossible to perform this analysis and development activity when the repository connection is not available. $his %O describes the setup of an O&B' data source pointing to an underlying ()*Access db that can be located locally on your laptop" and the creation of a BO repository in it. $his will provide you with a repository access which is always available. +.
